Description: The Hyatt Regency near Reunion Tower is a wonderful place to stay if you want to enjoy some of the Big D''s top area attractions. Located next to the Reunion Tower that helps define the Dallas skyline (see picture), the hotel has a huge ballroom, tons of meeting space, and an upscale feel to offer patrons.
I stayed in a standard room on the 20-something floor. As a result, I had a marvelous view! The room itself was pretty basic offering the standard ammenities you would expect from a Hyatt. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful, though I do have to say that the café of the atrium-style lobby proved to have exceptionally slow service. You can access the Reunion Tower from the main floor lobby. A guard was at the elevator entrance -- apparently, going up the elevator is free for hotel guests, but $2 a ride for other people. There''s a restaurant where you can eat in the ball, too, but I did not dine there. However, we did go up in the elevator and pick out the different parts of Dallas from the glass windows. This was fun, though I wouldn''t recommend it if you''re afraid of heights!!!
While the Hyatt has everything you would expect from a hotel of its stature --fitness facility, pool, etc. -- what''s the best thing about staying here? The location. After check-in, it was easy to walk across the street to the grassy knoll, over to the West End for shopping, then up to the 6th Floor Museum. While a little confusing to get to the parking lot, the Hyatt is right off the interstate and it''s a nice base for a Big D vacation.
