Adequate

We were in Durham for a wedding and only stayed in our room to sleep and shower. The price was right, the suite was spacious, and the hotel was conveniently located near major highways and restaurants. We didn't use the kitchen, but it looked clean. Two of the lamps did not work and those that did work were very dim, and the bathroom was just ok. The tub didn't look "scrubbed" but if you shower while wearing flip flops it's not a big problem. The ceiling had water stains and had been repaired with duct tape and painted over. There was no housekeeping, and we had to re-use the same towels our second night there.

Great hotel for the price

The room standard is like Holidays inn or Best western but you have 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms and 1 living room + Kitchen apartment!! Great for the price!!

We are a young couple and when we were looking at hotels before our trip, we were basically looking for the cheapest deal we could get (that looked decent, of course). This hotel exceeded our expectations. We felt like we were staying in a friend's apartment. It was roomy and had more amenities than we needed. I look forward to staying here again when we visit Durham again.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 10 month old daughter who is currently crawling. I was worried about the cleanliness of the room obviously, with a litte one in tow, but the room was very clean. She did not get dirty at all from crawling around. It looked like the room had new carpet. FYI, you do not get maid service at this hotel unless you request it because it is considered an "extended stay." We did request clean towels, coffee, etc. and received them promptly. It also appeared that the hotel had some genuine travelers like myself, and then some "shady characters" who just may have been shacking up there for whatever reason. They did keep to themselves though, and I did feel safe. It is a nice hotel for familes because you can put your little one to bed early and then close the door to the bedroom and still have access to the living room, kitchen and bathroom.

Awful Awful Awful

First the good news - "X" (not his real name) the handyman is prompt, friendly and competent. Now the bad: The desk staff is apathetic. When we got up to our room the keys didn't work. We called the front desk via cellphone and they said they'd bring new keys up. Ten minutes later we had to call back, and the desk person said, "We just forgot about you". No apology. They brought new keys and they still didn't work. "X" had to go reprogram them. When my fiancee went to dry her hair the hair dryer kept shutting off. Then it started to give off a smoky smell. Had to get "X" to come back up with a new one. As an "extended-stay" place they don't have daily housekeeping unless you request it. We requested it early Saturday morning and when we returned to the room Saturday night the bed was still unmade and towels had not been replaced. We had to walk down to the front desk to get fresh towels. The alleged "manager on duty" didn't even look up to apologize. The toilet seat had not been cleaned. The heating return was caked in dust. The foyer light didn't light. Two other lamps didn't even have light bulbs. This was a non-smoking room but smoke came in through the heating vents. The "blanket" was a thin layer of foam. Three days later my fiancee's back and neck are still stiff from the bed & pillow. The walls are paper-thin; we heard every sound outside our room all night. The TV picture was fuzzy. Definitely cross this one off your list!
