My fiancé fell in love with this hotel as soon as we walked in. We stayed in a corner suite, and it was well worth the money. The suites are expansive, larger than my first apartment. The service is extremely attentive. They provide Penhaligon's toiletries, a wonderful choice for an English-themed hotel. Don't miss afternoon tea in the lobby.

My husband stayed at the Windsor Court when he was attending a seminar sponsored by his company in June 2004. The first thing I noticed when we stepped from the courtyard entrance into the luxurious lobby was the giant bouquet of roses. The European art and decor is what one would expect from a hotel named for the Windsor family from Great Britain. Notice a miniature model of Windsor Castle under a picture of the family of royals.

So how were the rooms?
My husband stayed in a deluxe guest room (suites are also available), which was small but well appointed with couch, chair, queen-sized bed, desk, and ornately carved dresser. There was a small balcony that offered views of the river beyond Harrah's Casino, which is located directly across the street. While he enjoyed a cigarette out here, there is no furniture. The balcony is the size of a comfortable couch.

Information for the business traveler:
My husband attended meetings on the hotel's top floor, which had access to two outside patio areas. A hot buffet was catered each day, and all of the food met with the group's high expectations. After this experience, my husband would suggest this particular venue for any small group---50 people or less---meeting for work in the Crescent City. Internet access is available in the rooms, too, but there is a charge for guests.

Special points of interest?:
This is a luxury hotel complete with a health club, pool, and highly rated restaurant. However, my husband especially enjoyed having a local kind of beer---an Abita---in the lounge where a trio of classical instrumentalists played soft background music.

Bottom line?:
Like many things English---and I mean this with a real sense of unabashed fondness---the Windsor can come across as a bit stuffy. I mean, they actually serve high tea here in the afternoon. Yet the excellent service and the luxury environs all promise to add a true touch of class to any guest's stay.

Our room was spacious, elegant, and full of little treats that made our stay very special. Little bedside mats, the best amenities, instant fulfillment of our every request. Wonderful linens and very comfortable beds made it difficult to get up in the mornings. But the promise of a wonderful breakfast served in front of our floor-to-ceiling windows got us moving.

We had a great view of the downtown area and French Quarter, and ate most of our meals right there. Room service is available 24 hours a day, and we never waited more than 30 minutes for our meals, no matter what the time of day or night. The food is prepared in the hotel's Grill Room, one of New Orleans premier restaurants, and is delicious and beautifully presented. Even the club sandwich that we ordered on our arrival (at 11:00 pm) was wonderful.

The gorgeous lobby is very traditionally English, with wood paneling and a beautiful green marble floor. Understated and elegant, it was filled with the soft, cool scent of dozens of roses. Very refreshing after the heat and humidity outside. High tea is served in the lobby each afternoon. There is fine art everywhere you look, and a feeling of comfort and welcome that I have seldom found in luxury hotels.

We were pampered and treated as welcome guests, even though we arrived very late and very disheveled after driving nine hours. We loved the hotel so much and were so spoiled, it was difficult to leave. Every staff member we met treated us as though we were the most important guests in the hotel. True Southern hospitality at its best, unlike the rather snooty attitude one finds at some of the other top hotels in New Orleans.

And this place is great for celebrity spotting -- Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, and Bob Dylan are regular guests, and many musicians stay there during JazzFest in May. No luck this trip, but I wish I had been in the hotel bar several months ago, when Paul McCartney sang a love song to his new wife, Heather.

World class service with that special New Orleans magic. And a great website, complete with menus for the Grill Room and pictures of everything. And the prices are remarkably reasonable. We booked a "regular" room for $175.00, and that was when the city was full for JazzFest. It was actually the cheapest room rate I found among the major hotels. This hotel was named by Conde Nast Traveler as the best hotel in the world a couple of years ago, and I highly suggest you check it out if you're going to New Orleans.

Absolutely gorgeous, impeccably decorated, and very comfortable. It’s the city’s only five-star hotel, and everyone’s reaction when we told them that we were staying there was sheer jealousy. It’s first class all the way. The room was beautiful, with a great terrace (perfect for watching the parades), and was stocked with amenities, including the fluffiest bathrobe I’ve ever worn. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The Windsor Court was first-class in every way, from the stunning lobby with its gorgeous flower arrangements and priceless art collection, to the tastefully decorated and fully stocked suite. Service was excellent, with a knowledgeable team well equipped to handle the constant requests of four jaded Manhattanites, and the location was perfect. Gym/Pool - There’s a beautiful outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, and a full gym. Restaurants - I know they’re there but we didn’t eat in them. Concierge services - Very helpful concierges with great recommendations.
