Excellent hotel in a perfect location. Very professional staff and the ameniites offered are top rate. The perfect place to stay for a visit to New Orleans Frech Quarter. The only downside is the parking, if you drive be prepared to pay a tidy sum for parking with the hotel. I would definately stay here again.

Perfect location, awesome amenities.

This is a lovely place to stay once you get checked in. If you are there to see and experience the French Quarter you are in the right place, you can walk in a few minutes to everything you want to see. 5 minutes in any direction and you are at one of many world class resturants or if you choose one of the local establishments with equally great food. You'll be so busy looking at everything you won't even realize how far you've walked...to Jackson Square, the French Market, some of the most lovely streets you've ever seen. Want to stay in? Our room was a deluxe King balcony room....we had a view of a lovely balcony across the way...just enough off Bourbon that it was quiet at night but close enough to be a part of it. The bed was comfortable...lots of pillows and the linens are wonderful. The Desire oyster bar was our favorite in house place to eat....good food and good prices...get used to the laid back style and quit whining about slow service...lunch is supposed to take 2 hours...supper takes 3. Le Booze was cool...right on Bourbon and good drink and atmosphere. Mystik is a bit dated but nice for a drink. We got room service from Begues....food was good but breakfast was a bit cold....supper was very good and the staff is very nice. Overall....we'll be back...Everyone was so nice, the Hotel is a great place to stay. We don't recommend it for families with kids...Bourbon St. is not kid friendly and the Sonesta really does cater to adults. Its a good place to call home when visiting the French Quarter!!

Very Nice

Not all rooms have balconies - Everyone expects a tip for everything- but that is New Orleans- Other than that the hotel was simply excellent- Great room (once we changed to a room with a balcony) - super location in the French Quarter- easy walk to anything you'd like. Clean, up to date, good in room amenities. Pricey for the budget traveler but if a quality room in a quality hotel is important to the satisfaction of your trip.... This hotel is a winner

GREAT FOR A YOUNG PARTY COUPLE!!

My husband and I wanted to go to New Orleans for our anniversary...we have been many times but this time we decided to stay on Burbon Street...this was the best pick of all...I love being able to park my car and not having to worry if it will be broken into or things stolen...right when we arrived the staff was super nice...we spent our weekend partying on Burbon St. but always arrived to a clean room and fresh sheets...we had a view of the court yard and it was beautiful...i would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone that likes to stay on Burbon and party all night and come in to a clean comfortable room...we will be there again july 21, 2008 for my birthday and I cant wait....

Royal Sonesta: THE way to do New Orleans first class!

My wife and I have been to New Orleans several times, both starting when we were children. We decided it was time to take one of our sons down to experience the culture, art, food, architecture and history that is New Orleans to us. I spent weeks planning this trip for my family and was thrilled to get a room at The Royal Sonesta. It was a surprise for my wife and son and what a surprise it became. He is 13 and has travelled with us to many places but New Orleans became one of his favorite places, partly thanks to this grand hotel. We had not even gone inside to check in before Manuel, the warm gentleman at the front door made great friends with our son. During our stay, every time we approached the hotel, the doorman greeted our son by name, always with a smile and a good conversation always followed. The lobby, the garden, the pool, the bar at the pool and our room were all top notch. It would not be fair for me to give any of these things anything but a top rating. We dined at the Desire Oyster Bar--one of a half dozen times I've dined there--and it only garnered a "good" rating instead of the excellent ratings everything else earned. I was sad to see that the food quality, value and service had declined. It's such a favorite spot that we always go there first for a drink and either lunch or a nice snack. Since it is the first time I've ever been disappointed with them, I'll gladly chalk it up to an off day and hope that things have returned to the great service, food and value it's been for us for over a decade
