Great Views, Great Location

Great Views, Great Location

Karen always has hotel points and this was no exception, we got the hotel at a great rate and it was the perfect place to spend our last night in Pittsburgh.

The rooms at the hotel have stellar views of the the Pittsburgh Skyline and at night it is perfect. At dawn the view of the bridges is stunning. This is Pittsburgh only waterfront hotel and the design of the hotel takes these views into account. The restaurant which is in the back of the lobby has a wall of glass giving you the best views in Pittsburgh. Both sides of the hotel have views they just differ. We had views looking east.

The room was spacious and well appointed. Beds were comfortable with high quality sheets and lots of pillows. The bed covers are done in a burgundy and the walls are neutral. Your room will have views if not of the skyline at least of the Monongahela River. The room has a desk with a chair and free Wi-Fi and there is a leather chair and lamp for reading. I of course had my laptop and was able to write and keep in touch.

The bathroom is small but was well appointed. The vanity top was granite and there is plenty of space to place your personal items. The room comes equipped with a coffee pot but if you need more there is a coffee shop in the hallway on the first floor near the elevator. In the Am there are bagels and pastries in addition if you want a quick and inexpensive breakfast.

The hotel has a van that will drop and pick you up around the city if you arrange for it in advance. It is not an airport van, if you want to get to the airport you will have to arrange for a cab with the concierge. I had the driver take me to church Sunday morning and then pick me up, all I had to do was call him and of course give him a tip.

The hotel has an indoor pool and spa and a health club. There is also a very fine restaurant with prices to match as well as a gorgeous bar. We looked at the menu and decided for the price we would just grab a small breakfast at the walk up coffee shop.

But what this hotel really has going for it is location. When you walk out the front door you are right at Station Square. The Clipper Ship dock is just a short walk away.

The Monongahela Incline is also just a short walk away if you want to go up to the top of the hill for dinner. You don’t have to go up the incline to have dinner however there are a lot of dining choices right at hand. The Hard Rock Café, The Melting Pot, Houlihans and the Grand Concourse Restaurant, where we had lunch, are just a few of the dining options available. It wouldn’t be a lively happening place without a Starbucks. It doesn’t end at the restaurants either; there is a comedy club and other entertainment.

If this doesn’t seem like enough, there is a subway stop that will take you back to the Cultural District across the river for more entertainment options. We did this on Saturday evening since we had tickets to a show.

Staying at the Sheraton Station Square is a great option for visitors to Pittsburgh. The hotel is totally non smoking and if you get a club level room, breakfast, afternoon snacks, drink options and a private lounge will be available to you. I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat and I know that it is a favorite of Karen’s.

This hotel is a perfect place to stay if you plan to party in Station Square. It is conveniently located near plenty of bars, restaurants, and the gateway clipper.

The hotel itself was lovely, service was great - but the walls and doors were paper thin, so we heard EVERYTHING going on outside of our room, as well as in the connecting rooms. Other than the noise factor, the hotel was a good deal with a fairly good price for the area of Pittsburgh it's located in.

Great area - A MUST for attending a Steelers Game

This is a great location, easily accessible to all areas. Great night-life. If you are going to a Pittsbutgh Steerlers Game you MUST stay here. Take the ferry to Heinz Field. We look forward to this trip every year!!! Pittsburgh Rare is a great restaurant. Eat a delicious buffet breakfast at the Hotel restaurant before the game!!!

Pleasantly surprised with Sheraton

We stayed at the Sheraton Inn at Station Square after attending a concert at Heinz Field. Our room was on the 5th floor (river view) and was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. There is so much to do within a short walking distance. Despite a train passing by often, the sound did not disturb us at all during the night. The hotel was very quiet after 11:00 p.m. and we had absolutely no complaints whatsoever! You can check out by using the tv in your room for quick checkout. It was a wonderful experience! We will definitely return to the Sheraton.
