Overall its an ok hotel. The complementery breakfast is good and the rooms are very spacious. Its at a great location in downtown. One block walk away from the pier. Has air condition and balcony. One bad thing is its next to the freeway and train tracks so you hear the train horns as it passes by at night. The staff was friendly and helpful. Clean hotel but some kind of bad smell in the elevators.

Great deal for the price

We have stayed at a couple of different hotels in the Ventura area and we like this one the best. It has great under ground parking which is a great plus for my picky husband. He has his hotrod and if he can't park in a nice roomy space its a no go. The staff is very accommodating and they have great service. We stayed in a 1 king smoking room facing away from the freeway. If you stay on the side with the freeway it can be extremely noisy. But if you stay on the side away from the freeway your going to have a great experience. Its not the newest or most luxurious place but its a great deal for the rates you can get out here. Plus the location is great, your within walking distance to Main St. where there are theaters, restaurants, and bars. But stay away from the pool area, its on the side where the freeway is and is incredibly noisy.

Great Deal - Train at no extra cost.

Our room was very large and very clean. Although we had a fireplace, it did not work. I told the staff the next day and they only said OK The train does run next to the hotel but only from about 9 am to midnight. There is no view to the beach and it is not really within walking distance to the old pier. I might want to check out a hotel more off the path of the higway and the trains.

our family stayed here and enjoyed our time in Ventura, due in large part to convenience of hotel to local attractions. we walked to pier, downtown Ventura, and restaurants. it was a short drive to harbor area from the hotel. also enjoyed happy hour at hotel with complimentary drinks, even on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday). including the complimentary breakfast, great value for the money!

So much wasted potential

This hotel was in a great location -steps from the beach and downtown area. That's about all of the positive comments I can give. The front desk was severely understaffed and they were less than willing to try to accommodate my request for a non-smoking room when it was discovered that the reservation had been mistakenly made for a smoking room. The rooms, while spacious and providing a nice view were worn and overpriced. When traveling, I regularly stay in low to mid-priced hotels so I am quite aware of what is the standard for hotels in that class. I couldn't check-out of this hotel fast enough. My experience there ranks as one of the worst I've had in any hotel class. Lots of other hotels are available in the vicinity that can only offer better service and value for your money. Location note: While the hotel is in a convenient seaside location, there are train tracks with Amtrak and freight trains that pass within a few meters of the oceanside rooms at all hours of the day and night. They blare their horns as they pass by these rooms so be prepared not to have a good night's sleep.
