My 15 year old son & I stayed at the Asia Hotel in November 2007. This being our first time out of Australia and being a single woman travelling with a teenage boy did on occassions present with some difficult situations. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.They had a great sense of humour when my son was locked out of our room in his wet swimmers and wandered down to the main foyer to look for me dripping water everywhere. We also had an incident where we were being hassled by a TukTuk driver every time we ventured outside. I mentioned this to a doorman and that was the end of the matter. Breakfast each day was a gourmet's delight which my son and I thoroughly enjoyed. It was included in our room rate which was also very resonably priced. All the staff we encountered spoke some english and were able to direct us to more fluent staff members when necessary. Yes, we have vowed to return with my husband in the near future so that he also may experience the friendly hospitality of the Asia Hotel, the Thai people and others that work within it's walls. The Asia Hotel was a wonderful begining to our adventures in Thailand.

The location is very good if you intend to do some shopping and like to go to other places. Easy access to the skytrain. The free breakfast and cable TV could use some improvement. All in all, it was ok. I'd stay there again if I go back to Bangkok.

We stayed at this hotel as it was reccommended, the staff were unpleasant and gave us a dirty room when we arrived. The hotel car service charges what ever they feel like and they tried to rip us off on the fare even though we had taken the same route with them before. The expreience overall left me very angry and dissappointed.

The Asia Hotel is located in a good location in central Bangkok near several malls. The main attraction of this hotel is that it connects directly with the SkyTrain--Ratchathewee. The SkyTrain is the best way to get around Bangkok if you don't want to get stuck in traffic, and you want air-conditioning. We went during May, which is one of the hottest months in Bangkok, so walking around really wasn't an option. The Asia hotel is great since it's fairly modern, and has several pools.

We paid about $37 a night including taxes and breakfast. We booked our trip on the Internet. The price has gone up since then because the US dollar has fallen a bit, but it's still a bargain to stay there.

The hotel is rather large with several restaurants and shops on the second level. Breakfast is pretty good, with a decent selection of food, not just cereal and milk.

One thing I did find annoying was that using the telephone for local calls was rather expensive, and if you need operator assistance it's even more expensive. You can book a tour group from the hotel as well if you want to go outside the city.

The room was much larger then I expected it to me. They had just about everything I would expect from a hotel. To me it was very similar to staying at a Holiday Inn in the US. The staff was very helpful in giving us directions and translations for locations around the city.

We visited Sam's tailor on the second level and ordered some suits there. It's very inexpensive at just $85 for a wool/cashmere custom made suit. It took about 2 days with two fittings to complete 3 suits and 3 shirts. If you need work clothes, Bangkok is where to go to buy it. Since the SkyTrain is right upstairs it was easy to bring home all the goodies from the weekend market as well.

I know there are cheaper hotels in Bangkok, but Asia is worth the price and I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it for travellers.

It's rated a four-star hotel, but that was probably a long, long time ago. As we walked into the lobby, we could already smell the mustiness all around. Nonetheless, the service is of an acceptable standard and the room had basic amenities. The hotel is still using keys rather than keycards. And the key holders are REALLY HUGE and HEAVY so there's no way you'll lose them. There's no in-room safe but the hotel offer safe deposit boxes at the concierge.

It’s really a value-for-money hotel, and I guess its strongest point must be its direct connection to the Ratchathewee SKYTRAIN Station. All hotel guests are entitled to a discounted 1-day BTS pass, which gives you unlimited SKYTRAIN rides for 1 day. That comes in REALLY handy, especially since the Ratchathewee SKYTRAIN station is along the Sukhumvit Skytrain line, which gives you direct access to the major shopping centres and restaurants in Bangkok. We made full use of the day pass!

Our package included daily Breakfast buffet, which turned out to be rather limited. Certainly needs a lot of improvement.
