Everyone is old here. There's no one under 40 working. Waitress, bartenders, staff...OLD! The maids don't clean...all they do is make the bed. Check-in and check-out is miserable...all automated. Oh...and the buffet is NEVER open! It's like...wtf, man. BUT it's vintage Vegas and will probably stay there again...we miss it!

The Rivera Hotel Las Vegas

Even though the Rivera is an older hotel than some of the other's the room I stayed in was clean and had been updated as far as carpet, bedding, paint, flat screen T.V. For some reason we were unable to get any Movies on their movie channel. We called the front desk one evening they said they would send maintenance but after an hour, we called and cancelled and watched regular T.V. The guest room staff was very thorough in cleaning our room daily I did leave a tip so show my appreciation.... The ballroom where our convention was held needed more staffing, the exhibitors had to pile up their empty boxes and trash accumulated as no one was emptying the few containers that were provided. Other than the smoking allowed in the casino which I do not care for, the older establishment was adequate and I had a nice stay.

Watch out for housekeeping!!!!!

The hotel overall was good. The room was large with a great view. The hotel was well kept and it was clean. The staff was okay. The only thing I did not like was, that the maids would call the rooms and see if anyone was there. One day I did not answer the phone and had the do not disturb sign on the door and after not answering the phone housekeeping was nocking on my door and then came in. I don't know if the hotel was aware of this, but if their is a do not disturb sign on the door that means to do not come in. The only other problem that I had was the bed was not comfortable at all. Besides the problems with housekeeping the hotel met my standards. It was worth the money and I would go again, but I would have to address the issue's with the housekeeping.

The Rivera is disgusting, creepy and out dated. I stayed here for a convention and next year I will stay somewhere else. I do not recommend this hotel.

Pleasantly Suprised

On my first trip to Vegas, we were on a budget, so we picked the Riviera, and didn't expect a lot from it. All I really cared about was a decent bed and an A/C that works. We stayed in the Monaco tower, which was recently remodeled. It's pretty nice for the price, but then I've never stayed in one of the fancy resorts on the other end of the strip. The bed was nice and fluffy and comfortable, no floral print patterns to be found. The comforter was a feather one I think. There is a flat screen tv, a small refrigerator, and the bathtub/shower has a curved-out shower rod for extra room in the shower. And they have Bath and Body Works shampoo and soap. Our room also had a chair and ottoman that was comfortable and an Ipod deck. The food choices are limited though, which was not good. The food court is underconstruction, but the Cheesesteak place has a decent breakfast for $4.99. The Italian place is pricey, so we skipped it. We went to Kady's at around 9 one night, and it took a long time to order our food, and even longer (about an hour) to actually get our food, which was of course very frustrating. If you usually stay in a Super 8 type motel, this place will probably be ok for you, if you stay in one of the nice towers.
