Eastern Slope Inn

We stayed in the Carriage House Suites, which were very nice, new, clean, and modern. The bathroom had a jacuzzi/bath, 2 sinks. The room was a studio with small kitchen, large bed, and a pull out sofa. The gas fireplace was the only way to heat the room, and it made a lot of noise at night. The room included a washer/dryer combo.

Best Things Nearby:
Many restaurants, and shopping and family entertainment like mini-golf, hiking, storyland.

Best Things About the Resort:
Very friendly staff and clean rooms, and very easy to find and close to everything. Nice pool area; lots of things to do there as well.

Resort Experience:
The main building is an older-style building that they have made over. The pool is located in the main building on the main floor. It has a playhouse, clay tennis courts, and a golf course right behind it. It was a great place to take our first family vacation with our son.

Suites at Eastern Slopes Inn

We are timeshare owners of a one-bedroom unit in the Carriage House Suites -- a relatively new building located directly behind the historic Eastern Slopes Inn. We time-banked the bedroom half of our unit this year and used only the "studio" half. It was more than adequate for two adults, so long as you aren't put off by the need to fold your bed out of the wall each evening and fold it back into the wall each morning. Two easy chairs and a full sofa gave us plenty of opportunity to sit and watch the natural-gas fireplace, which also served as the heat source for the unit (the thermostat was responsive and sensitive). A kitchen table large enough to seat six comfortably highlighted the kitchen area, which included a refrigerator, counter-top cooking burners, microwave-convection oven, garbage disposal, and almost any cooking implement you could think of. The full bath included a jacuzzi tub unit and there was even a stacked washer-dryer in one of the hall closets. A smallish balcony gave us a good view of The Moats (a smallish mountain range) on the far side of the valley, with the yet-to-turn-green golf course between it and us. The separation from the main Inn was enough to minimize foot and vehicular traffic, but we were still close enough to make it very convenient to walk across the Inn's back yard to the swimming pool, outdoor or indoor hot tub, the Flatbread Company restaurant in the Inn, and the Frontside Grind, a great place for a coffee/bagel/ muffin kind of breakfast.

This inn is one of the original hotels in North Conway, but it is well maintained. It is located in the center of North Conway and is within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, ski resorts, and winter activities. Flatbreads restaurant, a coffee shop, and a sports shop are located in the main building.

We stayed in a three-bedroom unit in Humphrey Cottage, located behind the main inn building. It was actually a one-bedroom unit connected to another one bedroom unit with a loft, so we had two kitchens and two bathrooms. It was perfect for two couples. The only drawback was that in order to go from one unit to the other, we had to walk through the other couple's bedroom. Each room had a wood stove or a fireplace and a whirlpool tub. The rooms were clean and had recently been repainted. The appliances were fairly new. There are some minor repairs, such as cracked tiles, that need to be done, but nothing that would affect your stay.

The resort offers a pool and a work out room. The heated pool was very clean, but not well heated. The pool was cold and the indoor Jacuzzi water was closer to bathwater. The railing at the pool steps was broken. There was also an outdoor hot tub, but we never used it. The work out room contained a rack of free weights, a stair master, a nautilus machine, and a bike. All three of the machines were broken. There is also a movie room that is used for timeshare presentations. It had a 54" flat screen TV with surround sound, VCR, and DVD player. We used it at night after the sales staff went home for the night. We highly recommend this.
