Bring Your Crowbar for Pull out Sofa!!

We stayed in 2 different rooms while @ the Pink sHell. The first was a single king with a lanai overlooking one of the pools- this area was nice & quiet- away from all of the kids & main pool noise. The kitchenette was a nice feature. For the prices of the room, we were all but impressed. Several things were not in working condition in our room- the safe, the fan speed switch & the thermostat display. The areas outside of this building looked un-kept compared to the keep of the main building- maybe they could powerwash it so you felt like you should pay bucco $$. We decided to add 2 nights and consolidated our party into a suite over in the main building. This price was even higher. The room looked like it was crammed into a leftover space in the building plans. The lanai was big enough for just 2 chairs & a smallll table- how un-relaxing! The pull out sofa was malfuctioning (it could not be pulled out of the main couch frame without using ironman strength & the noise of a breaking couch frame). We called maintenance & 2 guys came in & strong- armed it out & said it would be replaced or repaired for the next night. On night # 2 it was all a repeat & the maintenance men had to bring a crow bar in to get the bed out. Highly un- recommended for all adults in this small but pricey room. Maybe a small kiddo or two would be a better fit. One more thing- if you feel like being in a sleeper community- this is your place!! The bar closes @ 9pm & there is nothing else going on unless you go downtown. The End.

Overall - this hotel was just "ok". They tend to nickel and dime you for everything, and beware of their policy for beach towels. They've tried to charge me $160 for 4 towels that were returned to them- but their records didn't show their return. Also, when a water main on the island resulted in a warning not to drink the water - they provided two 16 oz bottles of water a day for a family of four (and that after having to make a fuss with the front desk). Food is only ok. Staff was freindly enough. With so many places to stay in Ft. Myers beach and Sanibel - you'd get more for your money somewhere else.

Great time @ Pink Shell

My husband and I stayed at the Pink Shell with our 1 and 3 year old kids and had a great time. Our suite had a full kitchen, (dishwasher, oven and all) which was very helpful whilst vacationing with kids. The room was beautiful, clean and had great H2O toiletries. Amazing view of the Gulf also overlooking the waterfalls in the pool. The included breakfast every morning was wonderful. Location was not really walking distance from the Ft. Myers Square. But the trolley stop right in front of the hotel took you anywhere for 50cents. Pink Shell is near the farthest end of the island which has a preserved nature park nearby. Beautiful. Saw dolphins and all! Unforgettable. TIP: Get a facial with "Cinnamon" at the spa. WAS AMAZING!!! My skin STILL looks great and it's been over a month! My husband enjoyed a massage at the same spa.

Our stay there was wonderful. I couldn't have picked a more beautiful and relaxing place. The only thing I wish for is more adult entertainment and activities; other than that it was absolutely pefect, plan on going again and again and again.

Wonderful, relaxing, refreshing stay

We arrived and were greeted immediately by the staff who took our bags up to the room. The view was outstanding. We stayed in a one bedroom condo in Captiva Villas on the top floor overlooking the gulf and the bay. The Jacuzzi in the back looked small but easily fit the two of us. (My husband is over 6 ft tall.) The lanai was spacious and we ate lunch over looking the gulf a couple of times. The breakfast in Jack's Grille was outstanding and FREE! It had a full buffet with a cook to order omelet station. The pool was great! One of the best things about the location is that you can get off the island quickly (about 5 mins). We used to stay at Diamondhead but it would take up to 20 mins in traffic if we wanted to get off the island. We would recommend Captiva Villas to anyone who wants a beautiful view, relaxing time and spacious accomodations for two.
