Description: I loved the Pink Shell Resort! It is RIGHT on the beach, and all of the 3 rooms I was in (mine, plus two rooms of family I visited with) had gorgeous floor to ceiling windows overlooking the gulf. We stayed in one of the Sanibel View Villas, which I believe is the cheapest room type they offer, and it was worth every penny. Although, next time I would upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.
They provide everything you need - pots, pans, microwave, fridge, dishes, silverware...all you need to bring is your swimsuit and some suncreen!
The view is unbeatable. Every room has a balcony, and my favorite part is that the hotel is very quirky. They have paintings of cats surfing, a gigantic (faux) banyan tree in the lobby (the ceiling of the lobby by the banyan tree lights up with fiber optic lights), colorful oversize chairs everywhere, and a total of 4 pools. The bed was uber comfy...I loved the pillows so much I contemplated stuffing one under my shirt and stealing away with it! :)
There were a lot of kids there, as the Pink Shell prides itself on being family friendly...but the amount of kids there didn't interfere with our stay (we were looking for quiet and romantic as opposed to family friendly).
I definitely plan on staying at the Pink Shell again. There are a ton of other little motels and hotels in this area to stay at, but with the Pink Shell, you know what you are getting. You know that if there is a problem someone will be on staff 24/7 to handle it.
If you are on a budget, definitely go in the off season (May - October) for the best rates.
