No room at the inn

We never actually had the opportunity to stay at this hotel because when we arrived (with a printed confirmation in hand) we were told that they had no room for us. We arrived very late (~1:00 AM) due to flight delays and were exhausted. We were told that their records had us arriving the following day; we had had no such mixups with either our flight or car reservations. The hotel lobby was very small and quite dirty. The breakfast area immediately adjacent to the lobby bore little resemblence to the pictures I had previewed prior to making the reservation. We stayed a numerous Holiday Inn Expresses in the past and all were very nice. This was - sadly - an exception. The only good thing they did for us was to find us a room at another close by hotel, which was excellent and where we remained for our entire vacation.

Other hotels should take a lesson from this hotel on what customer service is. From the front desk to housekeeping to breakfast hostess, ALL staff not only did there job well and with a smile but also queried in an unobtrusive way if there was anything else that could make our stay better. Location is convenient to this congested traffic area. A hot breakfast buffet was slightly better than usual. Price was excellent for a typically expensive area.
