The Usual

I found this hotel to be pretty average. Staff was not overly helpful but they weren't rude either. For the money I expected a little nicer facility, but from reading the other reviews, this must be the norm for New York. I guess I'm a little more accustomed to luxury hotels in the Midwest.
I did find the fact that they wanted $15 a night for WiFi to be a joke. You're a "4 Star" hotel, and you want me to pay for WiFi? I can get it for free at any other 2 star, WtF?
I found the bathrooms to be completely underwhelming as well. But I think this might be the issue of limited space as well.
Location was good and if you're wanting to spend time around Times Square, this place is nice and close (within 1/2 a block).
I did find the bed to be VERY comfortable.

It was my wife's and I first trip to New York and we were alittle worried about what Hotel to stay at because we wanted the location to be perfect. The Westin was the right anwser. We had the best time of our lives, the Westin staff and rooms were beyond our expectations. So if your looking for a great location in time square, with 2 great resturants in the lobby and a regal theater for the kids and a friendly staff with great rooms with great views then the Westin is a no brainer !!! would stay again and planning too.
Perfect location for mature traveler with physical limitations.

Our stay was perfect for our needs. The location is great for attending shows and finding good restaurants nearbywhen you have physical limitations. The concierge was very helpful, but there was always a line of two or more waiting for advice. Room service trays sometimes stayed in hallways all day long. The walkin shower was maddening because nothing prevented all the water from flowing out onto the floor. The contemporary design was dark and not very welcoming, but the hotel did a good job of shutting out all the noise from the streets outside. Loved the bed!

I stayed in the hotel for 4 days. A few nights of the week security at the hotel checked for room-keys before allowing me to enter (nice). The location is GREAT, just one block away from Time Square (it's a long block but not a horrible walk). The lobby was felt modern and clean. Hotel staff was very nice and the cleaning lady for my room was really nice (this was before I ever gave her a tip). The room was nice, not huge but good for New York, I guess. Not modern feeling, not new feeling, but *not* horrible. I guess if I would compare it to the Westin in Seoul, Korea or the Intercontinental in SF, or the Omni in San Diego, the Shangrila in Taiwan...... this room does not match up at all. *However*, it was not a bad room. Out of 10, say a 7. 10 being new, bright, large, super super clean. However, if you see a good deal - I would take it.
Again, location is great - I walked to most of my destinations and the subway is close, allowing you to get to anywhere in Manhattan. If you're a theater person, this is a perfect location.
Note: THe hotel does not have a *grand* entrance like the Hyatt. If you were not looking for it, you would probably miss the hotel altogether.
