Double Tree Hotel in Fort Lauderdale , Florida

The Double Tree Hotel has the best service, I think it is the best hotel I ever stayed in, the suites are gorgeous, it has a stove, dishwasher, microwave, dishes, pots, everything you need for your stay, it is like a second home away from your home. The bathroom also is beautiful. I enjoyed my stay there very much.
No Where Near A Four Star !

1. Roaches in the dishwasher ? day 1 room 1 - In an attempt to retrieve silverware to enjoy my dessert, I was greeted by a number of cockroaches.
2. Balcony patio doors were filthy ? day 1 room 1 - I had the water view room, which I could not enjoy the view because the patio doors were filthy.
3. The air ducts/vents is rotten/rusty ? day 1 room 1 ? It was very hot as expected in FL (in June), after searching for the thermostat to crank up the air, I was afraid to breath. The air ducts/vents were rotten/rusted/dirty and the wall surrounding the vents had bad water damage.
4. My Ipod radio unit - day 1 room 1 ? I could not plug my small unit in the bathroom because it would shut off the power in the bedroom.
5. The microwave did not work ? day 2 room 2 ? After a long day and a new room, I wanted to warm up the rest of my lunch and the microwave did not work.
6. The elevators ? every day ? The doors took so long to open, just when you begin to think you are stuck, BAMMM, they spring open.
7. The hallway carpet is so loose, it is a claim (trip and fall) waiting to happen.
This hotel is far from a 4star hotel. However, that young lady at the front desk was a gem. She was very accommodating and tried her best. I will give her 4 Stars, but the Gallery 1 ? A Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel gets ½ a star.
The worst Hilton property for the money

The hotel is located by a very busy road with a fire station nearby. There is constant noise from the traffic and a fire truck going by every few hours.
I ordered the Grilled chicken sandwich caprese for $12.00 - guess what. It actually costs $19.00 after they add in their delivery fee, 15% tip, 7% admin fee, and the $4.00 room charge.
This charge is after the $18.00 self parking fee, and whatever their internet fee is.
No wonder there is nobody here. I booked a room at another hotel after one night.

The hotel is very nice. the beds are fantastic and is very good for family vacations since have a full kitchen but not manyts kithen utensiles. recomend it..
2-room suite is a life saver! (09/2008)

We traveled with a young baby, so the 2 separate rooms were a life saver. Kitchen was also a big plus given that we stayed in Fort Lauderdale for almost a week. They even have pots & pans, utensils, dishes, microwave, fride, and dishwasher! Though the room service was not the best, the room was quite clean. I like the fact that the maid didn't move any of our belongings in the room. Basically, she just did the bed and the bathroom which was sufficient for us.
The location of the hotel was near a big shopping mall. However, they did not have a connected walkway to the mall. You had to walk on the sidewalk next to the street/highway to get there (spell: dangerous with a baby). Although the hotel was only a couple blocks from the beach, you had to walk across a (pretty high) bridge and those "couple" blocks were not a short walk! With a baby in a stroller, I worked up a sweat even before hitting the beach.
They also had a taxi boat station right on the first floor. The taxi boat will take you to the beach and many sightseeing places including some restaurants. It's convenient and pretty cheap. All in all we were satisfied with the hotel. The staff was really friendly and were willing to help. We would definitely stayed here again when we visit the area next time.
