There are several buildings that make up this huge hotel. If you do stay in this hotel, insist on staying in the Wardman Tower, because it's the prettiest and most historic-looking. The rooms have recently been refurbished and have all amenities. Like most DC hotels, the weekend rates are cheaper than the weekday, which makes for a fun and educational weekend away!
There are two pools in the hotel and a very large exercise room. The restaurants are pretty expensive inside the hotel, but across the street is an inexpensive Italian restaurant. Along the street outside the hotel are affordable eateries. Like many places, a Starbucks is located inside the hotel if you want overpriced coffee.
The gardens at this hotel are beautiful and well kept. The concierge room was on the tenth floor and offered a fine assortment of breakfast foods and light evening fare. Service was done with a smile.
The hotel is walking distance to the National Zoo. It's worth a walk to see this excellent park. The neighborhood is well kept, and people really walk all over. The National Cathedral is a pretty long walk, and even though you might be in shape, it's all uphill getting there! It's definitely a must-see.

This is an old historical building with modern additions. It was the first hotel in the Marriott chain. The rooms in the newer part of the building are very small and you can hear any noise going on around your room. Request a room in the older part of the hotel. The Hotel has a pleasant staff and has three restaurants. THe best feature is that it is three blocks from the National Zoo.
