Not worth the price

What I booked: The "Do not disturb package"; an ocean view room with a jacuzzi tub, rose petals, L'Occitan bubble bath and candle, a bottle of campaign and a box of chocolate truffles. Price: over $*
What I got: The ocean front room with the tub; not ready when I arrived. A cheap candle and generic bubble bath from the grocery store (it actually had the grocery store label on it) the champaign and the candy never happened. The next day, they asked me if I wanted to take champaign home. I said that defeated the purpose of the romantic get away but they said we could sleep in an extra hour. I didn't get that either.
When we got to our room there was a note on the bed apologizing for the fact that they had booked the pool out to a private party for the entire day. The very kind and courteous staff compensated us $* for the inconveniences. That was nice of them but next time I'm going somewhere better.
I don't write reviews but....

I never take the time to write reviews although I rarely make any decision without the help of online review opinions. I'm taking the time to write this review because I so so love this hotel. I have traveled to the area twice for work and each time I tell the booking department to get me a room at this hotel.
It is quaint, clean, modern, ritzy, quiet, special. Its just different. I love it. I have stayed in the 2 higher category rooms and they were exactly as described and pictured.
When you arrive - the gentlemen at the front greet you by name...they know this because when you arrive at the gate someone asks your name and then they radio it up to the front door. I love this. And when I check out...the valet guy left me a personalized note on my seat. And they always left me water when they brought my car around.
The food in the hotel is ho hum...but I don't care. Plus there are so many other varieties around that it just doesn't matter. The sad part...I always have to work when I travel here. Otherwise I would just spend my time in bed (oh that bed...love it) watching my dvds on the dvd player. Or listening to my ipod on the ipod dock. Or watching tv on that wonderful plasma.
I love nice hotels....and this one just makes me feel good.
Disappointed

Stayed here for my anniversary and was very disappointed. Rooms look nothing like photos on website. I upgraded my room from looking at the Marina to looking at a wall. Liked the bed, hated everything else. Not only was I displeased with hotel, but long after my stay I was charged 3 times for a room I already paid for. I had to call the accounting department continuously to correct error. Oh yeah, and when you are on the balcony everyone else is too, making it feel very apartment like. This hotel is not worth the money.
Outstanding!

We originally booked a ground floor, marina view room and we got upgraded to a second floor ocean view room. Probably pure luck, but the room was very nice, clean and fresh decor. The only minus points are the lack of soundproof insulation between rooms and the sea lions barks at night. Not very loud though, so I slept perfectly well.
Staff was really nice.
The torches lighting up the parking/marina area at night are very nice and make it a romantic setting even if I was there for business.
Will definitely return.
Hotel paid attention to many small details...

Comfortable, well decorated rooms with great views of the water, sea lions, and passing boats. Very comfortable beds/ pillows. Bathroom has everything you need including a rain shower, cozy bathrobes, and vessel sink. The location is close to plenty of restaurants and shopping. I did notice that they also have complimentary beach cruisers you can check out.
