BEWARE!!

Not quite sure what type of room the other reviewers stayed in, BUT, ours was a disaster! Sure, the location of the Inn is great (it IS next to the Pacific), BUT, the room that is offered through the online deal is NOT 3 star. The room does not include an ocean view, the "courtyard view" is really just the parking lot (with several trashcans highly visible!), the rooms are decorated in what can only be described as "cheesy" and the floors squeak and shake, almost to the point of fear that the TV set is going to fall off the desk. The bath tub was badly in need of refinishing and the shower spray was a trickle. Also, if you have a car of any size, BEWARE! The parking spaces ARE the first floor of the Inn and are made for a Mini-Cooper or Smartcar. Getting in and out was a nightmare. Also, the Inn is used for long term guests and almost has an apartment complex feel to it. Luckily, we were only staying one night and ended up at a greatly improved Inn in Santa Barbara. Our suggestion to travelers...pay a little more for another Inn and skip this place.

Mediterranean vacation in California

All of the advantages of a Mediterranean vacation without the long flight or expense. It is quaint, it is funky, it is fun. Rooms have microwaves and refrigerators. The roof top has gas grills and living room set ups, including TVs. Plan on having most meals there. A stop at Trader Joe's in SLO took care of us for the entire stay. Admittedly, the weather was spectacular for our stay, and winter rates made it a great value. Can't beat watching the Super Bowl on the roof and in the room with the backdrop of San Luis Bay, with warm gentle breezes and the sound of breaking waves. I cannot give this a more favorable review. The town and beach were delightful and the Inn is just fun. We stayed on the third floor, there is no elevator; but worth the effort. Now if I could only get that soundtrack to stop streaming through my brain. My, My Mama Mia.

Inn at Avila Beach

The Inn at Avila Beach has been around for a while, and while in some ways it shows, it has a funky charm absent in newer facilities. Our oceanside room was spacious and well appointed. Free indoor parking was nice, and there's a roof-top deck with separate areas for semi-private gatherings, TV or even BBQing. Several good eateries are within walking distance, and the views are spectacular.

OLD WORLD CHARM

Spent 3 days at THE INN AT AVILA BEACH and found a unique and delightful retreat. Much detail and thought have been put into the style that is missing with budget hotels. If you are a HILTON HONORS or major hotel card carrier you may not appreciate this gem for the beauty that it is. I urge you to step into another world that is the INN.

A few days away from the Valley

The service was very friendly, but the facility was somewhat in disrepair. They were working on some rooms to make improvements, but our room had closet doors that were difficult to operate, the toilet moved when sat upon, the tub was stained and the bathroom was small. On the plus side the view was wonderful and the bed, although only a Queen, was comfortable.
