Another Stay at the Marriott

Lately, we’ve been staying at the Marriott Vanderbilt. It’s not because we particularly like it or we’re in a rut, it’s because that’s the one that Priceline always chooses for us. There are some perks, to it, however, that cannot be overlooked. To begin with, the location is excellent. It is very easy to get in and out of and if you valet park you don’t have to wait long for your car. It is located directly across the street from the Parthenon park and therefore easy to get out and walk around. PF Chang’s is located right in front of the hotel and Elliston Place is across the street. The rooms are spacious, although not overly so, and if you’re high enough up you can either get a good view of the park or the stadium. The pool area is nice. There has never been anyone in it the few times that I have been there and the water isn’t too cold. They hotel seems to cater to business people so expect an office room and a quiet lobby, but don’t expect for your children to be entertained. There is a small bar downstairs, a restaurant, and a small gift shop that sells drinks and stuff. There is also a Wendy’s next door that stays open late. The area around the hotel is very safe and everything is pretty clean, too. It’s a good place to stay if you want to be downtown, but not RIGHT downtown. About a 5 minute drive to the center.

I had a room near the elevator, but it was quiet! The room was clean, housekeeping was great! And the front desk staff was efficient and polite. BUT: Staying at the hotel will have additional costs: - Parking is addit. for valet or park yourself - Internet is addit. per day if you want that. Wireless or wired. - Water is addit. $ in your room. It has been my experience that services such as internet are now included, so I was disappointed that it was still charged. ...GREAT LOCATION THOUGH!

Hot and bothered

This hotel's location is convenient to downtown. However, it's not within walking distance. The hotel advertises a free shuttle, but they only have 1 SUV to transport all 11 floors of people to the downtown area. I feel like this was a "come on", and wouldn't have booked here if I knew that I would have to take a cab every day back and forth to downtown for the CMA Festival. On the first day we spent $80.00 on cabs. In 4 days we were only able to use the "free shuttle" two times. We had to wait 45 minutes each time and get in line with the other people for the same SUV to return. Also, it didn't take you very far into downtown. It dropped us off on the outskirts, and we had to walk 8 blocks to get to the waterfront park for certain concerts. The hotel was HOT! We believe there was a lock on the thermostat, and I don't think our room ever dropped below 75 degrees. The temperatures outside were from 95 to 100 degrees, so it was frustrating not to cool down. Also, the 3 "imitation" pillows on the king bed were worthless. They were so soft and flat that even with 2, it was still like using nothing.

Whole family enjoyed this stay...View of the Vanderbilt Stadium was awesome... the Vanderbilt campus was within walking distance for our daughter to tour....the construction at front entrance a little inconvenient..but staff very helpful.

Beautiful Hotel, Room Not What Requested

The hotel is beautiful! I loved everything about it except the room I had ordered. I had paid over $* for a room on one of the upper levels. I told them I needed two beds since it was three of us staying there (three adults). When we checked in, we were told we had one king bed in our room. We again told the person at the desk we needed two beds, and he said he'd do what he could. Without saying anything more, he handed us our card to the room. Upon arriving in the room, we had one king bed. They did nothing to change the room situation nor did they seem to care. So the three of us slept cramped all night in the bed. The hotel was very pretty though.
