Very poor service. Will not stay there again.

We were never able to have room service, it was down our entire trip. When we called the front desk to ask about it, the woman nearly bit our head off. One morning, a maid walked right on our room with a guy and let him look around for a charger he claimed to have left behind. She did not knock first or anything, just opened the door and came in. And did not even apologize. Also the lines to check in were always extremly long and took forever. They always had 2 or 3 people checking in these super long lines of people.

You get what you pay for

The hotel was okay but not great. The hotel itself is run down and pretty far off the strip. However, the room was clean. If you plan on staying there, try to see if you can stay away from the parking garage. My room overlooked the parking garage and it was very loud, especially at night--I think there is some kind of loose grate that makes a loud BOOM noise whenever a car drives over it. What really saved this hotel was the pool--it's really big, clean, and it was a really nice way to spend a few days. There is a bar right in the pool area where you can get some pretty good frozen drinks. Another bonus for this hotel is that it is right on the monorail route. While the hotel is pretty far from the rest of the strip, the monorail is cheap and really easy to use. It runs from 7 am to 2 am on weeknights; 7 am to 3 am on weekends. I would stay here again, but only after seeing if I could get an equally good deal at some of the newer casinos that aren't as shabby.

Value over Flash

If your looking for value over flash this the hotel to stay in. I was initially booked into a room closed for maintenance evident by the maintenance person who showed up at the room door soaking wet : ) oops, but I was quickly booked into another room by staff without any hassle (in retrospect without any apology too, but thats not as important as hassle free and after all ,I did just get through soaking one of their staff who had been working on the plumbing below the room when I turned on the shower). The Cafe and Buffet food is nothing to write home about and the quality really below what I had expected, but the staff working in those venues were extremely pleasant. There is easy access to the Monorail that goes almost the length of the strip, this in itself is an excellent feature for those not wanting to spend time in a cab stuck at every light and dodging the pedestrians on the strip.

Sahara stay

I read a lot of reviews that slammed the Sahara hotel in Vegas. This hotel is not fancy and does not have a lot of frills that one sometimes expects. However, for the price, I could not have been happier. The room was big, the bed was comfortable, It was clean, and the staff was polite, not overly so, but polite.

Simplicity at its best with Old Vegas Charm

Come on....You want Vegas, this is it. I have always enjoyed The Sahara for it's Vegas charm and ambiance. It is the easiest place to PARK and GET TO YOUR ROOM. That is a priceless asset if you have ever walked 20 minutes thru the big casinos to get to your room I will admit the place is a bit dated but that makes it all the more appealing to me. Someday these kind of places will be ALL gone. Enjoy it while you can for the real price and real setting.
