Description: My husband and I stayed at the Sahara Hotel from Thursday November 17 to Monday November 21. It was our first time to Vegas, and I got a good deal through Expedia. Before seeing how amazing the other hotels in Vegas were, we both thought the Sahara was fine. The only problem we had was at check-in (nice intro I know). The line-ups were huge due to many many military personel checking in, so we used the self-serve terminals which were easy and quick— but our room was still being cleaned (at 4:30pm!), so it wouldn't give us our room cards. We sat by the pool with all of our luggage, and returned to the kiosk every 20 minutes. After 45 minutes, we stood in line and spoke to a girl at the front desk who said that she could call housekeeping, but that their standard answer would be 1 hour, or she could put us in a room with two queens right away, instead of the king we booked. We decided to wait, and gave our luggage to the bellman while we went to the buffet to eat dinner. The buffet was satisfactory. Our room was ready after dinner and we went up to the 24th floor in the Tangiers tower. It was a king, non-smoking room, just as reserved. The room was clean and roomy. There was a TV, with a wireless keyboard and pay movies (never used either). The bathroom was clean and had a hairdryer. There was an iron and ironing board. We tipped our maid $1 every day and she left us clean towels despite the fact we hung them up to re-use. I was disappointed to see dirty room service dishes in the hall for 3 days!! I can understand 1 day until housekeeping comes by, but 3? Yuck! The pool was open reduced hours (9am-5pm), due to the season, and we never went in it anyway, but it looked nice. We signed up for the Sahara Casino Club card and received $10 in free slot play. Our last morning we ate at the buffet again for breakfast before heading to the airport. That was a mistake. It was AWFUL... I didn't like any of it. I'd have rather gone anywhere else... We didn't eat at any of the other places in the Sahara during our stay. We did get a latte at the Grind which was good and their desserts looked tasty too. For check-out, I used the TV in our room which was awesome—easy and quick. It even emailed me a copy of my bill. In closing, I think the Sahara is a satisfactory hotel. It was clean and styled fine. Do not try to compare it to the other Vegas properties like Caesars Palace, Luxor, etc. Compare it to any other hotel you'd find in your city. If and when we return, we'll probably pay more to stay at a fancy hotel as they are so beautiful.
