Okay experience, poor location

The room was clean and spacious, though it could have used some furniture to fill all of the open space. Our room was on the top floor and had a great view of the Capital building and the Washington Monument. The A/C unit was hard to control - it was either way too hot or way too cold in our room, no matter how much we played with the setting. The bed was comfortable and linens were clean. Flat screen LCD tv & college-style bachelor fridge were pluses as well.
The only issue I had with this hotel was a big issue - the location. It's "in Georgetown" but barely, and is FAAAAAAR from the nearest metro stop - probably around a 25 min walk up and down hilly terrain. Not to mention the worst part - you need a map to make the trip, as it's far from a straight shot down the road. The hotel runs a shuttle to and from the metro, but it's only during select hours and is not always available.
All in all, this hotel was decent & a pretty good value for the money that we spent, but future trips to DC will result in a different hotel stay, as the location is just too much of a hassle.
Misleading description

The description of this hotel is a bit misleading. It may be 'steps' to Georgetown, but it would be a very high count. Walking back from the main drag of Georgetown was well over a mile -- mostly up fairly steep hills. There is no on-site fitness facility. Restaurant on-site has a very limited menu, is expensive, and not that great. The bed was very comfortable, the room was a generous site, it was quiet. The staff is okay, but doesn't go out of its way to help. Getting a cab was a bit of a chore. The front desk said they would call, but nothing showed up from that effort. A limo driver waiting for another party took pity on us, and gave us a ride. Tiny bathroom. The clientele was (1) a group from Elderhostel, (2) airline crews, and (3) people who didn't realize they needed to bring a credit card. Not very cheerful appearance. We would look around for something else next time.

The Best Kept Secret In Washington!

This hotel was outstanding! Although this is rated as only 2 stars on some sites, this hotel should have at least a 3-star rating. It is located in a great neighborhood, it offers FREE parking, the rooms are very spacious and equipped with a flat screen TV, a mini fridge, a coffee maker and a microwave too (upon request). There was a spacious closet area and spacious bathroom. They also have some of the most comfortable beds that I ever slept on! I was also impressed with how quiet my room was. I felt like I was the only one in the hotel during my entire stay because it was that quiet when I was in my room. The only downside that I found was the lack of water pressure in the shower and the inability to control the temperature in the bathroom. Other than that, everything was perfect! They have menus and coupons available for many of the nearby restaurants that either deliver to the hotel or are in walking distance.
Lack of customer service

After showing up to our hotel, selected due to it's ratings and proximity to my next day's activities, I learned that I was being moved to a different hotel several miles away since other travelers needed the room. directions were provided to the other hotel. The other hotel was supposedly new and comprable. This was not the case. There was very little parking, the room was very small, the hotel had very few amenities unlike the hotel I had selected. No other compensation was provided. Travel agency staff did not provide much solice but offerred a $25 discount on our next trip. We have not received this discount yet.
