Great value - comfortable, close, friendly

I travel down to Richardson a couple of times a month, and have tried just about everything off of Central Expwy from Belt Line to GB Freeway. The Hawthorn Suites seems to be the best choice that I've found. Specifically: free Internet (see below), GREAT rooms (it's an extended stay place), free breakfast (eggs, sausage, juice) and very friendly staff. AND - booked through a online travel website the rates are _very_ reasonable.
On the downside, the wireless internet is pretty much unusable. A couple of times I've called the front desk and they've "rebooted the routers" - which sort of helps. I figure it's just traffic (it's not signal strength). HOWEVER - the rooms also have wired 100T which works quite well (I can't figure out what it is exactly - I think it must be DSL or some variant, because there's a phone line to a modem to an ethernet cable under the desk). So other than having to sit at the desk to use my laptop it works fine.
Bottom line: it beats everything else I've tried in that part of Richardson.
Shouldn't use the word suite

The staff was friendly... the place was really run down. Mold in the shower, bath . dirt in the corners. fraded carpeting. My husband left the room and went to get in the car and a cock roach was on his arm! I wore my shoes from the bed to the bathroom- creapy. They need to tell you this is a old folks place and I wouldn't send my worst enemy to the swimming pool- the water was gross.

Penthouse room has more than sufficient room to accomodate 2 adults and 3 children. That was our first priority. A queen bed plus a king bed in separate room plus a pull-out couch bed provided sufficient space. Two TVs plus two bathrooms also are a plus for family. Kitchen area with refrigerator was a plus. Having an included hot breakfast in pleasant surroundings was a second priority and a positive feature. Front desk personnel responded swiftly to our requests, too.
