not worth the price

This "Harbor View" room was a joke. Although this hotel was located across the street from the water, our room overlooked 2 enormous hills of road salt, obliterating any hope of a legitimate harbor view. We were told at the front desk that this is what one can expect from a "working port." OKAY, we understand that Portsmouth is a working port, but why charge $$$/night for a this inferior view? The hotel is run down and in need of some renovations. Again...NOT WORTH THE PRICE!

We checked into the hotel expecting much more than what we got. For the price that we paid for the room we were expecting more than just a bed crammed into a hallway-like room. For the price that we paid for dinner at the Harborside Restaurant we were expecting more than horrible service accompanied by not so great, yet expensive, food (except for the lobster corn chower, which was delicious). To top it all off there was an error on our final bills. We spoke to the manager about dinner and he gave us a coupon for a free breakfast the following morning. The lounge staff upstairs was good though and the location is great, walking distance to everything in Portsmouth, but I would never stay here again. Overall we were really let down.

"Deluxe" room was so small you couldn't walk around without bumping zomeone or something. The hotel seems to be old and showing signs of age.
Room was not ready at check in.
View from resteraunt was over looking cranes and dirt(?) piles.
Hilton in Portsmouth is in better location and has nicer rooms.

I stay in a lot of hotels and I can easily say that this is a great deal. The staff was absolutely fantastic and the location was perfect. The room carpet needed upgrade/cleaning, but otherwise it was fantastic!
