Not at all worth the price

I recently stayed at the Marriott Newport Rhode Island. I stayed in a so-called $* a night room. The room was old, dated, and dirty. I know that the long gray hairs in the tub/shower weren't mine, since I have very short dark hair. The bed was horribly uncomfortable - the pillows worse. The fitted sheets on the bed were obviously on wrong or the wrong size, because I had to spend the whole night reataching the corner that kept springing loose. There is nothing about the stay that I would say was worth even 1/3 of the cost. Best part is when I went to fill out a comment card, the two chairs in the lobby had huge stains on the cushions. Disgusted, I decided to just turn one of the cushions over and the stains on the other side were worse. If you don't believe me, just walk into the lobby by the check in and see for yourselves. I'd be shocked to see if the Marriott spends their time doing more than just overcharging their customers. If you stay there, you are definitely paying way too much for a lax corporate hotel. Pick anywhere else.

Excellent location. Front desk staff and concierge wonderful, I travelled with a 6 year old about to celebrate a 7th birthday and when we arrived at our room the staff had a balloon, delicious slice of chocolate cake and a card signed by the staff!!! Un-requested, truly thoughtful and touching. Room should be cleaner. The variety of pricing deals offered by the hotel means the restaurant staff assume you are paying full meal prices - so check your bills!! We had the free child meals but were charged and my breakfast was calculated as though I had eaten the upgraded choice. If travelling with children the pool was a hit. Overall we would go back.

My daughter & I stayed here while college shopping. The first thing we notied upon entering the hotel (aside from the beautiful lobby) was the wonderful smell permeating the entire hotel! Whatever cleaning products they used were delightful! After hyaving traveled all day we were exhausted and needed a nap. The beds were sooooooo comfy - we decided to stay in, get room service and watch a movie! Also, the fitness center was state-of-the-art and overlooking .the pool. They provide water, fruit & towels after working out! FABULOUS!!!!

Wow - just an overnight getaway for the Missus and myself. We don't live far away but needed an "escape".... Beautiful property, really fun, modern decor and the freindliest staff I've experienced. I travel on business all the time, I feel very qualified to say how supurb the staff and services were. The health club was wonderful, the business center was SO hepful and the food was spectacular. There was a meeting going on while we were staying there. All of the conference attendees that we met in the elevators, or lounges were raving about the fantastic service. Of course it doesn't hurt that the Newport Marriott is located right at the beginning of downtown Newport, right at all the greatest knick-knack shops, restaurants, fashion shops, pubs, along the harbor, so much to see and do, I wish we had more time. I was told they were getting ready to open a Spa at the hotel in April, I can wait to take my wife back to experience more at this truly delightful getaway.

We stayed at this hotel for Christmas 2007. We needed a place to relax, and this was it. We didn't have any kids with us. We liked where the hotel was located, just a walk away from many nice shops, and the view from our room was spectacular. The weather was pretty nice for this time of the year so we were able to just walk out the door and stroll along the harbor. Christmas lights everywhere. The staff was very nice to us. Our beds were very comfortable. We had the breakfast Buffet which was very good. I would definatly go there again.
