Good View, Okay Room, Not So Honest

Pacific Beach Hotel was an experiment we will not repeat. Frequent visitors to Honolulu as we must pass through here on our way to almost anywhere else, we usually stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Garden or Ala Moana, but decided to try Pac Beach because they have a tennis court (Hilton does not) and room service (Ala Moana has stopped room service recently. The hotel is clean, the room adequate if a little outdated, the view is fabulous. Location is good for the heart of Waikiki. The Oceanarium is cool, however, we found the Sunday buffet poorly run and less than pleasing. We were told we would have free wifi in our room - it is not free, and not wireless. We were able to find wifi for a fee that worked in our rooms. We asked about the condition of the tennis court before booking and were told it was in good condition - this is not true - don't stay here for the tennis, the center of the net is held up with a patio chair! All in all, it's an okay hotel, very popular with the Asian crowd, quite crowded with children in the restaurants and less than honest about current conditions in the hotel. We will not stay here again.

A beautiful hotel, with wonderful location, beautiful sunsets - directly across from Waikiki Beach. I loved the indoor oceanarium. Nice, clean, comfortable rooms all with balcony. I was in heaven!

We stayed in the Oceanarium Tower of the Pacific Beach Hotel. There are two towers, the Beach Tower, and the Oceanarium Tower. We had a partial ocean-view room, private lanai facing Diamond Head/Pacific Ocean. There were two double beds in the room. There are smoking and non-smoking floors in the hotel. There is an Oceanarium Restaurant that has part of a 280,000 gallon "fish tank." Buffet breakfast was great!!

We stayed at this hotel in '99 and 2000 and did not leave disappointed. Our stays came with breakfast buffet tickets, and the spread was simply amazing, from pancakes to several dozen types of fruits. And while you eat, you can view one of the largest aquariums in Hawaii.

The hotel staff was friendly and couteous and always asked if we needed assistance and tried as hard as they could.

The rooms are simple, but very clean, with nice amenities as well as a wonderful view of the beach (if you can get a room on the side of the hotel).

They have a rooftop pool, which was nice and refreshing, and always a large supply of nice towels and robes for the guests.

One last thing about this hotel is the location. It is only a walk across the street from the beach and includes stops right in front of the hotel for buses and trolleys, if you want to venture outside the confines of Waikiki Beach.

Pacific Beach Hotel

We were on the 16th floor/partial ocean view/partial mountain view. The room had 2 queen beds, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer. Very neat and clean property. The hotel had a spa/outdoor pool and large private sun deck. The 3 restaurants in the hotel served exemplary food. The main restaurant has an aquarium which rises up 3 floors and is 54 feet long by about 34 feet wide. Many species of fish live here including sting-rays. It is truly a marvelous sight to be able to have an enjoyable meal and view the sights of the deep! Numerous shops lined the elegant lobby. Gifts from around the world along with local merchandise and souveniers. The hotel is within walking convenience to the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, a multitude of restaurants, shops, galleries and museums. A small museum dedicated to Father Damien is just a block away. The Don Ho show at the Beachcomber hotel is about 2 blocks away. This property is a perfect location in Waikiki. Everything is close at hand with the magnificant Pacific Ocean at your doorstep.
