Best Western Pentagon Hotel

In my search for an affordable hotel near a Metro line, this one seemed to be what we were looking for. The hotel provides a shuttle from Reagan National airport and a shuttle to the Pentagon City Metro Station. Some reviews on travel websites were quite good; a few were terrible. It was in the price range I was looking for and because I had waited too long to reserve a place for this 4th of July weekend, I booked it.
If friends asked for a hotel recommendation, I would probably steer them away from the Best Western Pentagon. It’s not that it was awful. It was clean. Our room certainly could have used some TLC, but housekeeping does the best they can with older facilities. The shuttle was handy, and breakfast from 6:30-10am each morning was adequate. The front-desk staff was very friendly. The beds were actually quite comfortable.
The shuttle runs every half hour beginning at 6am until 10am. Then every hour from 11am until 4pm, and back to every ½ hour until 10pm. There are a LOT of people in the breakfast room getting something to eat just before 10am. It then follows that most of them want to get on the 11am shuttle to the Metro to explore the city. We wished for a 10:30 am shuttle to help relieve crowding on the little bus. They did run 2 shuttles for a little while, but they were packed. A 10pm last shuttle from the Metro station was a bit too early for us. Especially on the 4th of July, when the fireworks don’t even start until 9:15! We twice ended up taking a $10 taxi ride from the Metro station back to the hotel.
The Best Western Pentagon is not within walking distance of anything. No late-night snacking unless it comes from the vending machine.
The hotel was fine. Nothing special.

Well, it started off fine, everything looked ok, our vac was mainly for visiting dc so the location was actually pretty good only because theres a shuttle that takes you directly to the metro. the only prob with that is that he is late to pick u up at the shuttle everytime by at least 15 mins! The overall room appearance was bad, it looked like something out of the 70's the bathroom was small, and the tub was dirty. it looked clean at first but when turning the nobs to take a shower, there was dirt underneath, like they only cleaned what you would first see, also, altho we got fresh towels everyday, they smelled like maple syrup?! it was very strange, the housekeeping is not very clean at all. the continental bfast was awful , the juices or i guess thats what they were supposed to be didnt taste like juice at all.. i didnt feel very secure about at night either we constantly heard ppl outisde walkin around and talkin very loudly, also if someone had a room nxt to you , you will hear their water running and is very annoying at 4 am while trying to sleep. overall the hotel was a very bad experience, the only good thing was the bed was comfy and the location.
as i stated in the title if you are considering staying here to save a few dollars DONT!! ITS NOT WORTH IT! i wish i would have spent a few extra dollars for something that would have been worth it!

You get what you pay for or in this case you pay more then it's worth.
The hotel is terrible, dirty and not kept up well. The staff was not interested in helping or listening to your complaints. Most of the staff was rude. The breakfast is not great. I will never stay at this hotel again and I recommend that you keep looking if you are considering this place.

Internet was broken when we got there and staff could not have cared less. They first denied it, then admitted people had been complaining for a while. Then they said a manager was not available to talk too, they could not do anything about it, and they could not comp the room. There is a reason they call it a "service" business.

The hotel was great quality for a fair price. The front desk was helpful and friendly, continental breakfast good quality, and the room was clean and nice. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.
