Not a happy stay

The hotel is situated in such a way that if you aren't coming in from the correct direction, there is no way to turn into the hotel. We drove around four times before getting into the parking lot. It is also situated right next to a cemetery, which was kind of weird. The hotel was under construction due to water damage, which was not noted when I booked the room. I accidentally booked a smoking room and was unable to get it changed, but would have been charged a whole night's stay to have canceled, and since we paid online they wouldn't let us pay for an upgrade to a non-smoking suite, which they did have available. When we got there, the first room we were given had a family of ants in the bathroom. We were moved to a second room that was freezing cold and the heater didn't work and they had no maintenance or housekeeping people working to help fix it. We were moved to a third room where we ended up staying. It reeked so badly that even the stuff in our suitcase (which we kept closed as much as possible) ended up smelling of stale smoke. I chose a Holiday Inn Express because they're usually pretty nice, but I guess that is just the new ones, not older hotels that have been converted to one. On the plus side, the girl at the front desk was very nice and truly did seem to be trying to do what she could to help us find a satisfactory room.

My recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express Suites was wonderful! The staff at the hotel was so freindly and helpful! My room was great, it was comfortable, and clean, and the breakfast each morning was a terrific plus! I would stay here again if I were in the area without a hesitation! Thanks, Holiday Inn, it was a pleasure to be in your hotel!
Terrible Experience

This is a Holiday Inn Express. The webpage said Days Inn. We spent 30 minutes looking for a Days Inn until I called them in frustration and discovered the change. We reserved a nonsmoking room. The room had a "no smoking" sign. It also had ashtrays and smelled terrible. The A/C barely worked. The room was stuffy and stank all night. My clothing in my luggage even smelled the next day. The staff response was to give me a card to call the manager when he/she got in. Go somewhere else; don't stay here.

upon checking in there was a little confusion on paying for the room. Upon getting the room it was on the first floor the last room at the end of a long hallway which had an odor. The room was small even though I had ask for a king bed & no smoking, there was even a stronger smell. Also when looking out the one window there was no view. After going back to the checkout desk the clerk was nice enough to upgrade me to a suite at no extra charge on the second floor. The room was great and I slept like a baby.
