Hotel Da Vinci

We stayed here for 2 nights last week and were very satisfied with it. It was the best deal for the money and the location was great. We were impressed with the granite walls & floor in the bathroom. I enjoyed getting a discount on the Italian restaurant below the hotel & the food there was very good. The only downside was that the cable TV reception cut out on us the last night. I would stay here again & recommend it to others.

Great deal for the money!

Our room was very clean and surprisingly large. It was on the 2nd floor and faced the street, so it was a little loud (on the plus side, it was over the lobby so we had a wifi signal in our room). The staff was very friendly and the location was convenient. The continental breakfast left a bit to be desired, but the coffee was good. I would definitely stay here again, and I'd recommend it to others.

Huge dissappointment

I picked Da Vincci for two reasons: inexpensive and good on line reviews. Turns out it was a big dissapointment. Reasons: 1). No internet in room, no heat. Even worse, when I complained to the frontdesk, he did not sound appologetic at all. Instead, he was very rude and told me to look for the blanket in the closet. 2) Lousy room service. It was not until after two nights that they cleaned up my room the first time. And I did not hang that "Do not disturb" card. 3) No credit for unused nights. Now I know this probably is not all their fault but am just upset about it. Initially I booked 5 nights. However I had some family emergency that I had to change my return flight to two days earlier and paid 200+ dollars in penalty. I informed the hotel that I was going to check out earlier - and it's a special occasion that I could not possibly expect. I thought it's just fair for them to refund me for the unused nights. Talked to the online travel website, and they tried to call the hotel at least 5 times but just could not get hold of the manager. He was "not in" for the first two days. When Robert finally returns, I was told he "will only be available after 11 pm". I guess they were trying to make it difficult. Nontheless I called with a online travel agent at 11:20 pm, but were just told "Robert is in a meeting with a client". They asked us to call back in 20 min, which I did. After all this drama, NO refund. I will never choose your hotel in the future. And I will tell my friends not to, either.

great location, great value

Excellent location, friendly staff. Rooms are clean enough. Continental breakfast in the lobby is OK (get there early for the croissants or you'll have packaged danish) and the coffee is actually good. Our Queen room on the first floor was larger than our friends' (5th floor), but we had water temperature problems with the shower (inconsistently hot and cool). The Great Recession made for a terrific price, but the hotel is likely a good value even in better economic times. Good restaurants in easy walking distance. We did not try the Italian restaurant associated with the hotel, didn't have time.

Great Location, Like a Bed&Breakfast without the REAL Breakfast

I was pleasantly surprised. I've read a lot of reviews and was nervous at first. People said that it was too noisy, smells were coming from vents, and most people got a view of a brick wall.. We were lucky. We got Room 202 which is a double that overlooks the street, plus the room was pretty big (tall celing) with a marble bathroom, closet w/safe and hangers, 2 tables, a chair, a chest drawer w/mini refridgerator, 2 big mirrors, and a flat screen TV. Noises could be heard, of course 'cause you're right next to the street, and there were clanky noises coming from the pipes, but we were so exhausted by the end of the day that we fell right to sleep. The smells people talk about are probably from McDonald's next door, but we just stayed in the bed farthest away from the vent. The front desk was friendly, and one of the staff even tried to help me print out my flight info. We came back to the hotel with a clean room, towels, and toiletries every day. No problems with hot water, but might need to wait a little for it to heat up. Oh, and the "Contintental Breakfast" is rolls, butter/jam, packaged glazed donuts and muffins, coffee and tea. If you scarf down a lot, you'll be set for the morning. Also, there are 2 new computers in the lobby for free use. Overall, it's a great hotel for those who are trying to save money, don't mind lack of luxury, and just want a place to sleep/rest. If you're looking for the Sheraton, this isn't for you. If you've stayed in a Bed & Breakfast, you won't mind this one. Did I mention it's a walk away from MANY attractions?
