This hotel stay was perfect. From the time we checked in, to lounging in the rooftop jacuzzi before we checked out. The staff was very helpful with information on local attractions and restaurants. I mentioned on checkin that it was my birthday and came back to my room later to find a complimentary bottle of wine and box of chocolates. We were in the ocean view room with a lovely balcony. We slept all night with the doors wide open listening to the sound of the waves crashing below. The view was stunning. The hotel sits directly on the water. This hotel is within walking distance of all the popular restaurants and sightseeing. We never used the car after checking in. It is nice because it is on the far end of cannery row, so it is a little more peaceful. The room was gorgeous. Perfect bed. Lighting, very clean, lovely bathroom. Overall we had a great experience.

This might just be the best place to stay in Monterey -- you can't be the location, right on Cannery Row, with balconies overlooking the water (and the sea lions sunbathing on the rocks!) Our room was beautiful and the bed might have been the comfiest one I've ever slept in -- another person in our party slept on the sofa bed and said it was unusually comfortable. Special perks were the fresh cookies in the lobby every day, the enormous (very fancy) bathroom, and the fact that breakfast was brought in on a tray in the mornings, meaning you could have breakfast in bed! Absolutely loved this place and can't recommend it enough. The staff were also very friendly --it's just an all-around great property.

My wife and I took a one week drive up the beautiful California Coast. The first night of our trip we stayed at the Monterey Bay Inn. We enjoyed it so much that at the end of our week, we decided to drive back to Monterey and stay at the Inn again. The breakfast food was all fresh and good, the hot tub relaxing and don't forget the VIEW! The Monterey Bay Inn had really nice touches like placing binoculars in the rooms for guest to view the wildlife (live sea otters right off our deck), outdoor deck furniture to enjoy the spacious balcony our room provided, and my wife loved that you could pick your own breakfast options. Walking distance from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and right on Cannery Row. Great experience and we look forward to staying there again!

We stayed at the Monterey Bay Inn for one night on a trip down the coast and had a very enjoyable time there. We thought the location on the water at the end of Cannery Row was very nice. We got a Partial Ocean/Bay view room, which I think is definitely much better than a park view or Cannery Row view. The hotel is a short walk from the main Cannery Row shops, so you don't have much noise from that. They were finishing up construction on the full ocean view room side and the rooftop jaccuzi, which might be done by Sept-Oct. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathrooms were gorgeous. We liked opening the doors of our balcony to feel the sea breeze and hear the sea lions barking, but that might be too noisy for some. Also the hallways are nothing great and have some water stains on the carpet because they are open-air. And I think there is no A/C, but the weather was great when we were there mid-August. It is an extra $* a night for parking under the hotel, but if you regularly use $*+ per night hotels, that is no big surprise. The delivered breakfast is nice, and go ahead and check everything on the menu because it is not that much food. The Plaza hotel next door loks very nice, but from my onlne reseach it was much more expensive than the Monterey Bay Inn. This place is somewhat expensive, but the location, views, and room were all excellent.
