Description: I'm on the fence about this hotel, as there are both positive and negative things to say about this place. Seeing how we didn't stay anywhere else on the island, we don't have a frame of reference either, so all I can go on is my experience.
Positives:
Great pool, great complimentary breakfast with a wide variety of food, positive, knowledgable and helpful staff (who also give out directions and discount coupons), coin-op laundry with complimentary supplies, ample parking, bicycle and scooter rentals, and business center with two computers and a printer. The rooms were outfitted with your typical chain hotel items - a/c, microwave, fridge, coffee maker with complimentary coffee, TV with cable and our suite had a deck that overlooked the pool with two chairs and a table .
Negatives:
The rooms were less than ideal - we had a washcloth stuffed in our door instead of weatherstripping and the cleaning staff didn't mop the floors. We only had a shower in our one room suite so it was interesting to say the least when we bathed the baby. It was a bit noisey with it being close to the airport and a main roadway, but not annoyingly so.
It's a bit away from Old Town so you don't get the true feeling of Key West, but if you're looking for a hotel where you know what to expect, this is it. If you're up for it, you can walk to Old Town - it only took us about 30 minutes with a baby. If you don't like to walk you can talk the Olde Town Trolley Tour which has a stop at the hotel. It not only gives you a tour and orients you with the city, but you can get off at any of it's stops, and then get on another Trolley when you're ready to go to another place in the city or back to the hotel. One comes by every 30 minutes. It costs approx $35/person/day. Or you can always do the most common type of transit - rent a bicycle or scooter.
