overall nice experience

Other than the room being a little smal, everything else was very good!!! They granted my early checkin, had my bottle of wine in the room ready for when my girlfriend and I checked in, and the room service was exceptional and fast the next morning. If i am ever in the philly area again I would stay there. Thanks, Doubletree staff!!!!!

Being originally from Philadelphia, I wasn't expecting much in terms of service at a Philly hotel. However, I came back for a friend's wedding and stayed at the DoubleTree on Avenue of the Arts upon her recommendation and I loved it! I needed to an earlier check-in and though the hotel was fully booked, they somehow accommodated a 12pm check-in for me! Upon checking in the desk staff hands you two warm fresh baked cookies, which seemed a little strange but the cookies were FANTASTIC! And came in handy as a quick snack late at night. The room service was impeccable! They actually called to say the order might be slightly late though it arrived much faster than I had anticipated. The food was surprisingly! Crab cakes and a chicken sandwich, any and all condiments were provided. The room itself was well kept, didn't have that old hotel stink. The staff was very helpful and so were all the amenities the hotel offered.
If you need a place to stay in Phila. in the happening part of town, I recommend the DoubleTree! Within walking distance to Olde City, Society Hill, Independence Hall, the nightlife and offers best service and amenities for your money! Only drawback was that at on weekend nights you get a lot of locals running in and out of the hotel and I suspect most were not actual guests.
Horrible Management

I reserved our room 1 1/2 months in advance and confirmed that everything would be ready to go. After a LONG day of travel we arrived at our hotel that evening ready to put our feet up and relax. The receptionist gave me the keys to our room and we headed up to check things out. Our room ended up being a pull-out bed, when we had reserved a Double Queen. I was upset, and called the front desk to discuss the issue at hand. The receptionist was very rude, and informed me that they were sold-out and that there was nothing that they could do. I was VERY upset at this point so I called back and asked for the Manager. The Manager got on the phone and asked us to come down to the Lobby and relax while she took care of it. We waited in the Lobby for nearly 45 minutes and I was fed up, so I headed over to the counter to see how things were coming along. I very calmly asked the Manager if they were able to take care of the situation and she told me to calm down and take a seat. This is where I had to walk away before I punched her in the face, I couldn't believe that after patiently waiting for them to fix a mistake they had made, that I would be asked to "calm down." When they finally found a room they sent our Bell-hop over to give us the new keys and take us to our room. Our Bell-hop was the most professional and concerned employee there.
Conference

I was there for a conference. The meeting rooms were very good, large and comfortable. The rooms were large. The food was very good and reasonably priced. I really have no complaints and would stay there again if I ever have occasion to travel to Philadelphia in the future.

I travel often because of my profession and am also responsible for planning conferences for our organization. We were absolutely impressed by the superb service we received at the Doubleday. We have never been treated so well. The staff is extremely professional, attentive and friendly.
If you are looking for a quality hotel were you will get outstanding service and a friendly staff, don't hesitate to choose this hotel. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.
