Description: This is a basic older hotel, with smaller rooms, but we found it kept up very well for being older. The rooms were very clean and the bedspreads, carpets and drapes all seemed like they have been recently replaced (Feb 01). The bathrooms were very small, and had a shower only. The tile and the sink in the bathroom were old and very worn looking, but it appeared clean. The bathroom needed better lightling.
In room amenities included coffee maker (coffee was $2.50USD per package, better off to bring your own or pick some up at a grocery store), mini- fridge, and in room safe. There was also a lanai with a small table and two chairs.
There is a small pool area and sun deck on third floor, overlooking Kuhio Ave. The pool area was very noisy from the traffic below and ocassionaly you would get the smell of exhaust. The pool was not heated and very cold, even later in the day when the sun had been shineing on it all afternoon.
There are two restaurants in the hotel (Chili’s and a Bakery), and lots of restaurants within walking distance. There is also a county western bar in the basement of the hotel. Be sure to pick up the Best of Oahu booklet in the hotel lobby, for discount copuons for both of these restaurants.
The hotel is located across from the International Market Place, and two short blocks to the beach. There is a grocery store next door. Trolley and shopping shuttles pick up right in front of the hotel. The city bus picks up across the street.
This a good value hotel within walking distance to the beach and in the heart of Waikiki. You can't beat the location.
