For our honeymoon, we went to Jackson Hole because my husband’s sister gave us the condo of her timeshare for our wedding present. I really wanted to go to Steamboat, though, and stay at the Steamboat Grand hotel. I had never been there and it looked really nice and romantic, so we decided to stop there for a night on our way home from Jackson Hole. We pulled up, and my husband looked at the hotel and said that it was going to cost too much and that we only get a room if it wasn’t too expensive. Well, we lucked out, as it was early December and early season, so we got a room for just under $100. It was a great deal.
The lobby to the hotel was very nice and cozy. There was a fireplace and sitting area and the front desk was well staffed and very helpful. The place was really nice and made me feel like someone important. They offered a wide range of rooms, suites, and condos. We were just there for one night, so we just got a hotel room.
We checked in, parked, and headed to our room. We had chosen a king room. When we entered, we were both very pleased with the room. It had a king-size bed that you could view the mountain from and fireplace and television from. The view of the mountain was just great, and the gas fireplace gave the room a romantic touch. All the furniture was very nice. It was not the normal, cheap hotel furniture you sometimes see. It was more like items people would pick out for their house. We had two phones, a VCR, a CD player, a coffeemaker, an iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer.
The bathroom was also great. It had a full-size shower and a Jacuzzi tub for two. The tub was really large, deep, and very enjoyable. It was nice to have it available in your own room instead of having to go around the hotel and find a public hot tub. There was also a large vanity that would hold all your stuff and really nice hotel soaps and such.
The hotel also offers a spa with many available treatments and a full fitness center. They had a large, heated outdoor pool and two hot tubs. This area was really neat and nice. They had one really nice restaurant in the hotel and then a bar and grill-type restaurant and also a café. They also offered room service.
The hotel was walking distance to the slopes and at the base of the mountain, but it was not a ski-in, ski-out hotel. We did walk to the base that afternoon to look around and also eat. There were several shops, restaurants, and bars, all within walking distance. We also ate lunch at the hotel bar and grill, called Chaps, and it was a really good lunch.
