Hard Rock Hotel

The front desk was very friendly and accomodating when checking in. Need to be careful when getting out of car. The hotel is on a very busy street. Would have liked to know about the parking situation before arriving. No parking available and parking was $47 a day to park. The room was nice, but thought it would have been larger. The one good thing was the bathroom was spacious and well laid out. The view from the thirly third floor was breath taking. The best kept secret is the restaurant downstairs. The China Doll. The food was spectacular and the service as top notch. I would stay at this hotel again, but would try to find other parking. This can add up quickly.

Not bad, not great.

I stayed at the Hard Rock for the downtown festivals and the July 3 fireworks. The location is good, close to downtown, the Michigan Avenue shops, and River North. But a good hotel needs more than location. The stereo in my room didn't work. First call to service was unanswered. Second call brought in a technician on my last day of stay. The bar was friendly. I didn't try the China club. The room was very dark (you need more light as you get older) and sparsely furnished, but otherwise okay. The best thing about the Hard Rock is the elevator music. Too bad you can't play the elevator / lobby sountrack and videos in your room.

We found our accommodations wonderful - we were able to upgrade at a reasonable price when we checked in. The front desk clerk, was extremely nice and very helpful. In fact, all the staff were great! Our room was very clean and very comfortable. The location is perfect. I would definately come back and recommend this to anyone who is traveling to downtown Chicago.

My 12-year old son was thrilled!

Went downtown Chicago for a Mom/Son weekend--surprised son with Hard Rock--he was thrilled. Standard King room with upscale upholstery, decor: roomy & comfy; son called it sophisticated; I called it a bit stark, but posh nonetheless. Bathroom upscale: walk-in shower with perfect water pressure and soft lighting; loved the Aveda shampoo/soaps, etc.; real hair dryer; XL towels. View of Mich. Ave. nice; window opened; individual thermostat. Bed and bedding luxurious; wish I could have brought them home with us! So comfortable. Ordered room service kids' hamburger meal (lots of food) and HUGE kids' hot fudge sundae with berries. Also ordered Tiramisu-delicious, but expensive; but son loved the presentation--and the luxury. Nice TV/Home theater set up. We brought DVDs and watched while we ate our meal. Room needs a small table; had to use luggage rack for room service tray; could have used desk, but then we both couldn't have eaten off the tray. Son loved free internet in room; game controllers on desk. Great renovated landmark building. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Near restaurants (Corner Bakery, McCormick & Schmick's, Catch 35, Starbucks, to name a few), 7/11, Millinneum Park, Magnificent Mile, Chicago River. Wish there had been a pool though. We checked out early to go to museum. Son left souvenir in room. Went back late in the day; the front desk called housekeeping--they found it! That made our day. Concierge polite and eager to help--but need to learn bus routes!! Couldn't tell us which bus to take to Museum of Science and Industry, a pretty standard tourist spot, or the Olgilvie train station. Lobby unimpressive; could have used some cleaning--leaves and dirt tracked in by Chicago Marathon participants; carpet dirty; not many rock star memorabilia; bar area nice and relaxing place to gather with friends though; didn't try restaurant.

Excellent
