A Grand Finale

This was the last hotel in a seven city tour and we found it to be excellent. Within walking distance of the Terminii, the location is quite ideal for walking tours of the city. The rooms are large and spacious; bathrooms clean and fully functional in the grand Roman style. The dining/breakfast room is quite wonderful, the sea-creatures theme being wrought finely in a plethora of ceiling bowsprints. The buffet is generous and refreshed constantly. Reception staff wonderful. Highly recommended. Ask for a room off the street. The Romans are impatient and noisy drivers!

definitely would stay again

My husband and I stayed here for 12 nights and had a most enjoyable stay. The breakfast was sumptious, the room and bathroom huge, airy, bright and clean. Pillows were somewhat hard, but I asked for a softer one at the desk and got one that was an improvement, but not by much. However, after long days of exploring it wasn't hard to drop exhaustedly into deep slumber! The street noise did not affect us. The room is well soundproof once the tall ceiling- to-floor balcony door and huge windows are closed. If you like walking and exploring, which was why we chose to spend most of our time in Rome, all attractions are in enjoyable walking distance. The Coloseum was the closest, so was Cirus Maximus. Spanish Steps, Pantheon, many of the churches (homes to famous art pieces), the Trevi Fountain etc were all in very comfortable walking distances. You really hardly noticed the distance because there is so many interesting architecture, shops and restaurants to goggle at on the way. The Vatican was a couple of subway rides away and Termini station is a cannoli's throw away!Restaurants, gift stores, Trattorias abound. Termini station has lots of stores and a good grocery. We never felt unsafe. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful and all speak English. Oh, the Gray Line tour office is about 2-3 mins walk from the hotel.

Stayed here for 4 days on a long weekend trip to see the sights.Very easy and convenient to train to FCO and metro lines to all major sights.Had online travel request an early checkin and when I walked in the door they greeted me by name and rooms were ready for us(@ no extra Charge) Rooms were cleaned daily and English speaking staff were very helpful.Yes the eggs were runny but what buffet's aren't? Best request room on upper floors(we were on 5) Remember you are in the middle of a major city and there will be traffic noises(When we closed the drapes and shutters there was little noise.BEWARE pickpockets they unfortunately got my brother in only 2 stops carry only what you need in front pockets(do you really need 5-6 credit cards on you?) leave the rest in safe.

I am very suspicious of some of the other reviews, we stayed in three different rooms in this place and all were in poor condition, beds were hard as rock, pillows smelled, and it was very noisy all night. food was lousy even at european standards, runny scrambled eggs, YUK. The staff was ok, the location is great..... if you know how to use the trains. I travel all over the world and this place gets one star from me.

Excellent Hotel

I chose this hotel because of the reviews it had received on Travel agent and was very pleased I did so. As mentioned else where the building was built in the mid 1930s and still has all the wonderful architectural touches of a Hercule Perot movie. The bathrooms are all recently renovated with marble and glass. This hotel is actually part of the "Mediteranian" hotel next door and shares a most beautiful dinning area in common. The buffet breakfast was well stocked and filled us up before our day of sightseeing. It is one block away from the main train station and a cab ride away from Rome's most sought after attractions. At the hotel's suggestion we rented a scooter from Bici Baci for a day and had the best time of our lives. I would most definiately stay here again.
