You get what you pay for

The price was right for this place. If you are looking for a lovely and romantic stay, look elsewhere and pay more. If you want an ok place to sleep that is decently clean and very basic then this is your place. Breakfast is not much, so plan on bringing snacks or going to a local creperie. The area is fabulous for boutiquey type shopping and we felt totally safe walking around at night. IHOP is next door, but tons of eateries are a few blocks away. We loved the location, but would try another place next time. The parking was great, especially for the City!

Surf Motel is in walking distance to many great restaurants and shops. The furnishings are basic, but adequate. They provide parking which is a big plus.

Would recommend to a friend! There was allways someone to help and any question we had as to eat and visit was explained. Parking was adaquate, no ... additional charge as others had. Room was clean and bright. I would stay here if i went to san francisco again. Hotel features (5=best, 1=worst)

"Room rate was great but the towels were thin and old, asked for more but they were out, c-bfast is a muffin or donut, not very clean, very noisy, but if you want a cheap room this works. besides the good rates, parking was free until 11 am and only $5 until 5pm"

Pros: room was clean, close to several Muni lines, the staff was very helpful, free parking, inexpensive. Cons: Lombard is a busy and noisy street and construction going on across the street (not the hotel's fault), elevator was old and scary, but it worked.
