Royal Hawaiian!!!

Awesome Stay! If you are looking for a little smaller hotel with a lot of charm this is it. From being greeted, the check-in......everything was awesome! Would recommend staying in the beach tower because it will give you access to a private drink/food area for part of the day, and they staff the area with a private concierge for that tower. The Mai Tai bar on the beach is awesome! Great drinks, Mai Tai is great, but need to try the Bahia (sp?). The food at the bar is great, try the margarita pizza, but make sure you add kalua pig!! If in doubt ask the bartenders. They were very helpful/friendly with suggestions. Also the hotel gives you easy acccess to all kinds of shopping, so the location is awesome as well. If there was one knock, the room was a little stuffy/humid, but nothing we could not deal with. When we do go back, we will certainly stay here again!

A lovely stay in Waikiki

Our stay at the Royal Hawaiian was wonderful! The hotel is beautiful and the setting phenomenal, ocean front on Waikiki Beach! The location is great for shopping, dinning and entertainment in the area so very accessible to everything if you are walking or driving. The pool is quite small, but we spent most of our time on the beach, which was just a walk through the lobby. Enjoyed drinks at the beach front bar, although service was a little slow. Overall, it was a great stay, would recommend this hotel.

It is full of nostalgia and charm, but you have to like the color pink. The architecture is pink Spanish-Moorish, and the lobby area features hand-woven pink rugs. Rooms in the Historic Wing (the hotel opened in 1927) include four-poster canopy beds, flowered wallpaper, and individually carved heavy wooden doors. Each one is unique, so when you walk from your room to the elevator, be sure to inspect the details. Tell your friends you enjoyed a cocktail at the infamous Mai Tai Bar. This hotel isn't for everyone, but those who appreciate historic buildings or those looking to recreate those early days of Waikiki will enjoy a step back in time.

Royal Hawaiian

The Royal Hawaiian is one of the oldest hotels in Hawaii. Despite its age, it is quite well maintained. It is also known as 'The Pink Palace' because it is painted entirely pink. The Royal Hawaiian is a nice contrast to some of the large resort hotels on Oahu. The Royal Hawaiian is by no means a small hotel, but it feels much more personalized than some of the other very large hotels in Waikiki. The hotel offers a sense of tranquility from the frantic pace of all the comings and goings in Waikiki. This is despite the fact that the hotel is right in the heart of Waikiki. The fact that you can still be in center Waikiki, but quickly escape to a place that feels like it is in Hawaii of a past era is the main drawing point for me.

The rooms are well appointed. Ours came with a four post canopy bed appointed with fixtures that had local flair and offered a nice view of the courtyard.

Even if you don’t stay here, I would recommend stopping by to view the gardens and courtyard. The grounds here are quite spectacular.

Everything was great! We stayed in the lowest-priced room. It was very large and comfortable. The room had a view of the hotel driveway & we could see the ocean through a few trees. The king-size bed had down pillows and was very comfortable. The was lots of closet space; one was a walk-in with a safe, iron and ironing board. They had everything that you could need, including toothbrushes.
