Nice Hotel

  • June 9, 2006
  • Rated 4 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
This was a nice hotel, but it wasn't that clean. The sinks could have used a good old fashioned Ajax scrubbing, the could have refilled the Shampoo & Conditioner more, the TV was really snowy. The carpets needed a fresh cleaning, the blankets needed to be replaced. Other than that, the staff was great, the hotel was nostalgic, the Restaurant was excellent, Concierge was great. I liked it, next time I'll has for better cleaning services.

Extra Long Weekend Stay

Great Location to everything here. 1/2 block off Union Sqauare and on the Powell Cable Car line. Rooms are charming, but very small compared to newer hotels. If you don't like noise, request a room toward the back of the hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Powell Street. It does get loud. Will Stay here again.

Nice hotel, coutious staff, Great Location for catching the Bart, Muni, or Cabble cars. Lots of shopping and great restaurants all in walking distance. I would stay here again.

Villa Florence Hotel

The Villa Florence is a Kimpton boutique hotel. The accommodations were great, with down comforters and Aveda bath products. The staff was wonderful, and the hotel restaurant, Kulettos, had great Italian food.

Villa Florence

A friend and I traveled in January 2003 to the Villa Florence. We were happy with the size and decor of our room (two queen beds, corner room with big windows). The accommodations were tasteful, emulating a certain Italian style, and the beds were comfortable.

The lobby is lovely, the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful, and the breakfast that came with our package was superlative (as in "made to order").

However, despite all its charm, there are two factors that would preclude a return visit. One, Union Square is NOISY. And I mean "as noisy as Rome," with sirens and a substantial amount of noise from the street population who congregate at Union Square. Even with double-paned windows and earplugs, it was loud all night long. Secondly, parking on Union Square adds a sizeable chunk to the cost of a room, and the inconvenience we encountered while retrieving our car was an unpleasant surprise. If you can sleep where it's noisy, this is a fine hotel, and there are often bargains to be had.

As for me and my Princess and the Pea ears, we'll choose another neighborhood.
