The Lobby was beautiful, but the hall ways and the carpet in the room were very old and worn out, the elevator smelled badly, the carpets through the hallways were very dirty and smelly, the bathroom in our room had caulk that was missing on the tub, it was not dirty, it was old and worn out, the pool looked like it needed to be cleaned out, the water was not very clear, there were soda machines without soda, they only way you could get a soda is if you bought it from the front desk.....I was very disapointed with this hotel specially with due to the rate vs the value.....

This hotel has a wonderful location. You are near every major highway or interstate. They are in the process of re-doing the main building so our room was not what I was expecting. It was small but sufficient for our needs. The pool was great and the staff was very helpful. I would stay here agian if the opportunity arrises.
Couldn't Believe it!

I couldnt' believe that a 3 star could be so off the mark. The room I sayed in had parts of the bed in pieces, the actual box spring was torn and viewable. We had 4 in our room, my wife and I, plus our two children - and they initially only provided us with 2 towels; then we asked for 2 more and only got one more. We complained at the desk and they got us 4 towels. However, the following day again we were missing a towel - only 3 towels. When we asked for another towel it was met with attitude - not good for business. My parents stayed in the room next to us and on the evening before we left - their sink either blew or someone from cleaning left it running and flooded the room! Also, the continental breakfast was only so-so! The problem wasn't so much the food, but the space to accomodate all the people looking to eat. Give the lady taking care of the food a RAISE! She deserves it - I saw her working like crazy to take care of all of us! Too bad, she wasn't the one taking care of the rooms - if she was, I wouldn't have to complain!
Lafayette Hotel

We were a little nervous about seeing the Lafayette Hotel because of reviews we read online, but it was a decent hotel for the price. Our room was clean and kept clean, but you did have to ask for a few things - like tissues, etc. The staff was nice enough and helpful. If you don't have a car, you can get to all of San Diego with public transportation not far from this hotel. The hotel isn't in an upscale area, but no one bothered us and the people were friendly. For the price, it was worth it. We were in a smaller, inner room, but they had bigger rooms and suites that opened out to the pool and are more expensive. All in all, it was a good hotel.

Yes, the pool & lobby area look nice but the rooms make it seem like a completely different hotel. Room was small, air conditioner was in the window with only some plastic to cover the rest of the opening (noisy), beds hard, & overall it was icky and old. Yuck! We checked out the next morning and found somewhere else to stay.
