find another hotel

This is not the best hotel in town...staff is cranky, hotel is in need of some major repairs, and restaurant should be closed! The staff at the front desk was very unattentive to all guests, busy chatting with each other. The housekeeping is not great. Not worth the money and a waste of the location. No reason to stay here at all. Lots of other choices in town, we moved after 2 nights of a 4 night stay.

I have to say that I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the negative reviews on this hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean and inviting, our room was spacious and well taken care of, and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The beds were comfortable and when we asked for a cot it was brought to our room quickly. We ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner and breakfast and again, the staff was very friendly. There were lots of little things at this hotel that were unexpected, like the server at breakfast bringing us to-go coffee cups without being asked. We really have no complaints about this hotel, and we stayed in the older section on the 2nd floor.

Location, location, location!

Our son was beginning his freshman year at Cornell University, he needed to report early the next morning so we needed to stay as close to campus as possible. It was easy to find, check in was immediate, you can walk over to Ithaca Commons in one minute! We ate at Max's (the sports bar and grill in the motel), it was good food but the proportions were too generous...almost extreme. We all slept well so the beds must have been comfortable and the shower was nice also. The only thing that bothered me was that the coffee maker is in the bathroom, next to the toilet. We moved it out to the vanity and I have to say it made a great cup of coffee!

Don't stay here!

Family weekend for both colleges happen to fall on the same weekend which means rooms are tough to come buy. This is my first experience with this town and the college. I booked four months in advance on the online website. The hotel not only charged my credit card in August (my stay was in November), but blamed the website for charging my card and also I was not guaranteed a room, I would get whatever they had left! I was told I should have called the hotel to make the reservations. I saved a whole $ 62.00 booking online!! Certainly not worth it. I called the Holiday Inn franchise and was told that it certainly was not the case, that the Holiday Inn Ithaca charged me. I ended up in the old section of the hotel, with two buckets filled with dark yellow water from a dripping roof right outside my room (which, by the way, were never emptied the three days I was there) The room was clean, very very small and dark. There are only two hotels right at the commons and they certainly can charge whatever they want. I needed a wake up call and the call came one hour early (no one took care of the fact that it was daylight savings time) Their answer "oh yeah, we have been hearing that alot." Never again. Go with the Mariott or stay in the outskirts of town and book early!!!!!!!

very nice
