Baiyoke Sky Hotel, Bangkok

The Baiyoke Sky Hotel - Thailand's tallest hotel, rising 88 storeys above the Bangkok skyline, strategically located in the heart of downtown. Surrounded by bustling market and entertainment attractions. Easy walking distance to the major shopping centers: Central World Plaza, Gaysorn Plaza, Peninsula, Amarin plaza Department Store, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, Siam Center, Siam Square, MBK Centre etc

Great location for shopping and getting around. The hotel itself is now a little dated. Most noticable at the upper level restaurants and bar. The room itself (we were in the 57th floor) offered spectacular views. The room was clean and well air conditioned. The hotel pool was nice and massage service was expensive but ok. The reception staff were not so great, tried to overcharge our room bar. They insisted we paid for something we didn't drink. I was courteous and stood my ground and they just acted like i was trying to rip them off. All over 600 Baht!!??

Baiyoke Sky

This hotel is clean, modern, and hospitable, however the location is dirty and congested. After staying somewhere else at the end of the trip, I concluded that I would not stay here again. The price ($47) is similar or more expensive than other hotels we saw in better areas of the city (try Jade Pavillion or Windsor Suites).

The pros are that the staff is helpful, the rooms are clean, the bathroom is large, and overall, the interior is modern and nice. The major con is the location. It is near street shopping, but that is it. There seems to be many more stray dogs in this area than other areas of the city I visited; and it seemed very dirty and smelly.

The hotel has two computers with internet access (the night staff never did figure out how to work them) and a huge breakfast buffet on the upper floor with a great view of the city.

This is the tallest hotel in Thailand. The lobby is located on the 19 floor. The rooms are spacious and so are the bathrooms (which are set on high floors). For breakfast, head to the 79th floor if you can stomach it. But the set back is that since it is such a huge hotel, the service is rather poor, with an impatient and grumpy staff, probably from the continuos flow of guests.
