This is a basic hotel but everything was nice and clean. I had no problems and the staff was very polite. It is definately the kind of place to stay if you are passing through town or are there for an extended stay with business. The breakfast was extensive and served a lot of good things.
A real surprise!

This was my 5th visit to Iowa State University to visit my nephew. I have stayed at more expensive hotels in Ames and found Microtel to be just as comfortable, pleasant and clean as any of them. It was very basic in its provided anemities but all I had to was ask and the front desk provided it ie: more shampoo, a toothbrush, and more pillows. The rooms have no refrigerators but the front desk graciously put our special diet foods in the main refrigerator.

Imagine taking a shower, being tired and just wanting to end your day, but before ,having to endure in your (thought was clean room) dark stringy hair in your shower/tub surround. Obviously, cleaning lessons are needed, but more, management that cares if you encouter a problem. X, marion reservation center does not, emailed her, no response back. Dont stay here, pay 10.00 more and enjoy your room. Also, trash overflowing out the door there, looked real ghetto there

We had a 1 Queen Bed room, it was as small as they could make it. The grout around the tub was black. The grout around the toilet was yellow. The no slip bottom of the tub was dirty. The bed was very hard. The air conditioner blew across our bed.Good news...Cable TV, passable breakfast, price, & friendly, helpful front desk.

This hotel suprised me. When my Dad decided he and I were staying here, I cringed slightly due to the fact that he hadn't paid very much for the room. The rooms, however, were clean and nice. They are just basic, no frills, but for the one night we were staying, it worked out really well.
