I have stayed at the Ohana Malia 3 times this year and will stay there every trip I go on to Oahu. I have always had a good room, great maid service, and the desk workers are always nice and helpful. I like the location very much. Close to everything you need. Can't wait to go back!!! Very satified! ALOHA......

Our ocean view upgrade

My husband and I checked in for one night after a long flight from North Carolina. I had already had a room booked and I even called them the day before we left to see how close they were to the beach. I was told it was 2 blocks, it is more like a mile. Anyway while checking in, the gentleman checking us in asked if we would like to upgrade to an ocean view room for an additional fee. He said the ocean view room usually runs a few hundred a night. This was before we knew the beach was a mile away. Our view was the top of another building and watching their AC fans on the building turn. And the ocean, you could barley see it. Our bed was hard, and the room smelled. So I hope they enjoyed the extra money they got out of me. I learned from that one. Also, having to pay extra to park is stupid too. They sure know how to get your money in Hawaii.

Honolulu hotel is ok

Every staff member was VERY nice and very helpful! We upgraded to a suite because of the size of our party. Got a kitchenette, daily paper, and daily coffee. The fridge helped with night meal leftovers! No on-site pool: The ocean is so close. Even so, you can use pools at nearby Ohana hotels, so it was great. They even give you towels to use for the ocean/pool. The parking lot is a real challenge to get in and out of. $*/day seems about okay. One warning: the IHOP restaurant associated with the hotel was overpriced and had terrible food.

This hotel needs to update the bathrooms and put a patio chair on the lanai. Elevators are very slow also.
