Non-smokers Beware

  • November 5, 2008

We stayed at the Jameson Inn Lafayette and requested a non-smoking room. When we checked into it, the room was reeked of cigarettes and when we complained to the management, they told us that they were low on smoking room so they let smokers use non-smoking rooms at times. Also, the staff was indifferent to our requests for clean towels and soap. At the time, the hotel was understaffed because of evacuations after Hurricane Ike. It's possible these problems have been taken care of by now. The beds were comfortable and hotel could be cleaned up, if management was not overwhelmed with other duties. If you're just staying for one night, you might be tolerable of the problems here.

This hotel should be condemned!

I was on a bus trip with 52 other people and this was our first stop on our way to the Smoky Mountains. Our tour guide handed out our room keys on the bus and when my sister and I tried our room, the card key failed to work. After going down to the lobby and waiting behind several other guests who had complaints, the clerk re-keyed the card and we went back up only to find it still didn't work. She told us the manager would be up "shortly" to help. After waiting 30 minutes, a young man sporting tatoos and piercings finally showed up with some device to re-key the lock. After several attempts, he finally opened the door and quickly left. When my sister and I entered our supposedly non-smoking room, it reeked of cigarette smoke and we found ashes on the chair and all over the nightstand. Someone had obviously laid on the beds as the pillows were crushed and the comforter was a mess. There was only one towel. I would not recommend this place to a pig!

This is absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, period, without exception. When I checked in there were no towels. I complained about the people above me at 2:00 a.m. that were running around the room all night - nothing was done. Discovered there was no soap the next morning. No soap was put in the room after I requested it. The cleaning staff didn't even make the bed while I was out. I was told that I would be refunded my first night stay and it didn't happen. The bathroom counter had ants living there. Better hotels can be found in third world countries. Easily.
