Description: Sometimes during meetings I ran into special surprises. This was the case with a hotel in Reno (Nevada USA). I was in the conference room of the hotel Harrah's. Right in downtown Reno on Center Street deNorth 219.
From this street you will see a large building in the sky contrasting with the big letters Harrah's on the top of the yellow building. Opposite the building is a square with special seating. Mosaic tiles are made of huge sculptures which stand on the square. And this people are nice to relax or anything to eat.
Arrival
It was an unfamiliar environment for me. So I had no trouble finding it. First the parking lot. It's a video secured parking with valet parking. Meanwhile I learned that this is the easiest. So I handed the boy over my keys and I get a ticket from him.
.
Then look at the hotel, a high tower and a broad front. The main entrance is like you go to the Oscar ceremony. There are suspended TV screens with announcements of a bingo and keno event. On the sides are posters of shows that are organized in hotel. With names that may be very famous, but I've never heard of them. At least I've never heard of the Iconman. By an automatic glass door you go inside. Wonderful. A beautiful modern surroundings with a gleaming marble floor. I think at the hotel and I expect the reception here but the girl behind the counter refers me to the first floor. Because that is the hotel. On the ground floor is the casino with just ringing machines.
Hotel
It is a three-star diamond hotel. I've never heard of this rating. But luxury is everywhere. I would talk about in our case a 4 star hotel. On the floor near the lobby are six restaurants. From a steakhouse to a café. Typically, the restaurants provide an opportunity for 24 hours a day to eat. Because it is a casino. The hotel has 928 rooms. From standard to super deluxe. In the hotel, you have the typical conditions for business. You can reserve meeting rooms for various group sizes. They call this the Convention Centre. The place where I had to. The meeting rooms provide opportunities for small groups to mass Meetings. The biggest possibility is a conference facility for 300 persons. But more on that later.
Reception
I am registering with the teacher as a participant in the conference. But she refers me to a different location in the building. I must get through the entire building looking for the Convention Centre.
Toilets
Opposite the entrance of the hall is a cloakroom with toilet facilities. I walk into the toilet and then I'm in a huge room with polished marble sinks and around on the floor. There are a dozen toilets. Everything looks clean and neat. Neat, shiny polished and all hygienic conditions, a plastic toilet seat on the disposable until fragrant soap to wash your hands. At the entrance there are some more comfortable seating, where you can just wait until you can enter. There is also a bar / cafe, where you could have a drink of coffee to whiskey.
Meeting
The meeting room / conference room where we were, was great. Good air conditioning and a nice arrangement of round tables with seating for 10 people. All A / V equipment was present.
Several TV screens along the wall and a large projector screen to the stage. Across the room sat about 200 people. With enough room for everyone and even to have a chance to stretch your legs along the sides. On stage were the speakers were easy to follow. The sound was perfect. Those are things I notice because I have often seen as fiddling with. Microphones in the audience were also present. So there was this large group interaction. The acoustics are great. The walls of a sort of aluminum to give a modern feel. All in all a good conference facility.
Diner
At one giving moments carts were wheeled into the side and a buffet was prepared. The tables with crockery and cutlery were already there and the buffet was great. Per table we were asked to take our plate. Well then you need to choose between various salads, beef, chicken, turkey, pork and fish and even vegetarian. If there were several side dishes of vegetables, from broccoli to beans and rice, lasagna, potatoes in several variations. The buffet staff was friendly business scooped up some dishes. All kinds of juices and drinks were served at the table. Finally there was a dessert buffet, which I've just looked at me and then I pass out on. But there were enough Americans who have the cheesecake and even fruit and mousse. I can only say, a quality and quantity catered dinner. And if you think I'm done, I can tell you that this buffet two times a day there. At lunch and dinner.
Disabled
That is something that really struck me in the USA, the disabled facilities are excellent. The hotel has good facilities for disabled parking spaces to roller doors and knobs for low enough to be operated from a wheelchair.
Facilities
Besides the casino, which is the main activity, there was a health area with a pool and gymnasiums. Nearby are tourist trips. For example a trip to their casino at Lake Tahoe.
Conclusion
I had a good conference in a separate location. At least not every day I come into a casino. All though you do little noticed at the conference. Only when you walked out of the room, you could see the slot machines and poker tables. A good quality hotel. Very modern look. Just for the design I will go back. It is also reasonable in terms of hotel prices. Around $ 65 plus tax, you have a room, but without breakfast. But look at their website for deals. The various packages they have are fun. There is private parking. The meeting facilities are perfect and the food tremendous.
All in all, just a nice experience.
