Rooms Need Major Repair & Renovation

The location of this hotel is excellent but the rooms are in need of repair and renovation. At the very least, carpets need to be cleaned. the towels and bedspreads were torn and worn out. the shower was cracked and had huge pieces that were gouged out and the grout on the floor tile was filthy and mildewed. We stayed in a double King suite and it was a nice size for a family of four. The walls were well insulated, I could not hear anything from the adjacent rooms. This hotel could be really nice with some repair and renovation work.

Dont Drink the OJ

Check-in was quick and painless. We got a King Suite equipped with a fireplace, jacuzzi, sofa-bed, kitchenette and shared balcony. It is located just off the main drag, at the very end. Free parking is available.
The hotel had a policy of pets < 25lbs. We have a 40lb pit/boxer that they allowed as an exception. They had a very small pet deposit which was non-refundable.
The room was clean, though the sofa was dingy from age. The fireplace appeared to work, but required a tool to turn on. We did not try to call to try and obtain one. There was a kitchenette, but no dishes. Overall, the room was about the same quality as anything else in Gatlinburg. Nice, but old and poorly kept.
The continental breakfast was free, but "continental" is defined by this hotel as mini-donuts, mini-muffins and cereal. A machine was dispensing your choice of apple or orange juice. Please don't drink the orange juice. Whatever you do, DON'T DRINK THE ORANGE JUICE. This was brought to the attention of the staff who stated that the OJ was not sour, but the brand was just "strong."
Overall, the hotel was well worth the price. We would stay here again, sans the breakfast.

Nice Surprise

Having worked in the lodging industry for several years when I was younger, I am always very critical of hotels, especially chains. The Family Suites was a nice surprise. True, it's not the newest property on the block, but improvements have begun with others surely to follow. Very nice bedroom furniture and balconies all on the river.

Let me start out by saying that some of the reviews that have been made about this hotel worried me, but after staying there I was VERY pleased. There were NO bugs or mold like others had claimed. The room was clean. Had a fridge and microwave. Rooms have a beautiful view of the river/stream. In walking distance to the strip. Nice outdoor heated pool that was kept clean. Stayed on a Saturday night and I have no complain of noise. Give this hotel a chance. Great price!! I'll def stay here again!!
