Mardi Gras was great, in part to the orginization of the hotel and its staff. However, the hotel made no effort to meet the comittment by travel agency in regards to room appointment.

Charming, but Quirks

The history and charm of the Hotel Monteleone is undeniable. The lobby is gorgeous, historical, and exactly what one would expect. I would stay there again, but I would probably explore other options as well. All but one of the gentlemen serving as valet parking attendants were rude, and one adjusted our radio station (including turning it up loudly). A parking garage elevator and an elevator in the hotel were down while were there, causing long delays with getting to the lobby and getting our car. We were scheduled to have a "deluxe" room, which is the "largest" of the guest rooms, most offering views of the the Mississippi River or French Quarter (according to their webpage). If that was the largest of the guest rooms, I would hate to see the two smaller rooms. It was miniscule. The view was of what appeared to be the HVAC system. On the positive side, it was very clean. The linens were nice. The soaps were nice. The water pressure was good. No flat panel tv in this day and age? In an era when La Quinta and Hyatt have flat panel tvs on the wall, that is a little surprising for the Monteleone to not have that amenity. We had breakfast in Le Cafe, but $20 was a little steep for the buffet. The other menu choices were nearly as expensive. The buffet did have a nice selection of fresh fruit. The staff was mostly very professional. Personally, my suggestion would be to visit the lobby, the gift shop, the Carousel bar, but stay elsewhere. It was not a disaster, but for that many stars and that sort of price, I expect a little more.

My wife and I celebrated our 41st anniversary in style. This hotel is a jewel in the French Quarter. Everything went perfect. The pool on the roof is a winner!

Great Location

Located within walking distance of multiple attractions. Nice hotel, it was very hot but A/C worked perfectly, kept the room very cold. Hotel has plenty of character and charm. Only downside is parking, get there early because parking is limited and fills up quickly. I travel often and highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Monteleone--maybe it USED to be a good hotel

I truly felt as I was imposing on ALL the staff when I stayed here. Service was terrible EVERYWHERE. Room service did not make up my room till 5 p.m. even though I was out of my room by 7 a.m.. Rooftop pool was pretty, but way to small and overcrowded and then it got messy and seemed like a pool somewhere on a spring break. Only one waitress and bartender no where to be found. No seats, no room to sit. Horrible. Service was surly at front desk, from housekeeping, at Carousel bar, everywhere. If you want to be treated poorly, stay in a room that is just OK, and feel the entire time that you are lucky if the staff even acknowledges you, then the Hotel Monteleone is the place for you. Otherwise, book at a place where you will be treated as a gues.
