The hotel is a traditional french quarter style property. Rooms are small. However, most people going to New Orleans don't spend too much time in their hotel rooms. Front desk staff is very helpful with the property location being close enough to the French Quarter, without being right in the noise and commotion of the French Quarter.
I would definitely suggest the property as a spot to stay for business or pleasure.

We stayed at the Hotel Monteleone on the advice of friends and we loved every minute of it. The hotel was beautiful and priced affordably for being located in the French Quarter. It was within walking distance of just about everything including Cafe du Mond which I highly suggest to anyone visting New Orleans. The beds were comfortable and our room was very quaint. While the bathroom was a tad on the small side for a family of 3, we made good use of it and had no problems using it to get ready all at the same time. The pool is a must visit since it is on the roof of the hotel. It isn't deep, but it definitely has character. They give you heated towels too when you get out! A big plus when a thunderstorm is rolling in!
We took a carriage ride around the Quarter and had a wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly driver named David Duquet. He is third generation born and raised in New Orleans so he knows his stuff. If you plan on taking a carriage ride while there, you should defintely seek him out to be your driver.
If travelling with young children, just be sure to stay away from Bourbon St. after 6 PM. We took a short stroll down the street at around 6 PM and found it a little to over the top for our 8 year old. Very interesting place to be though if you have the concierge find you a babysitter early enough.
