We stayed there because most everything was booked. The neighborhood was not good. You had to take a cab anywhere. No local restaurants to walk to. They offered a breakfast that a cook had made, which in turn made the whole lobby smell like a greasy diner. No ventilation in the little kitchen. The rooms were adequate. Old but were kept clean. The staff was very nice and always helpful. Would probably not stay again. Would rather stay closer to the downtown riverwalk area.
The Antonian Hotel....Never Again!

Made my reservation in July for a November stay, and the Antonian was the only hotel left in San Antonio that wasn't out by Sea World that had any rooms available. Hotel website says it is less than a mile from the Riverwalk, downtown, etc. but doesn't mention that the ONLY way to get there is by taxi (about $10 each way). Hotel is also right in front of a (busy) fire station. First impressions were not good: Made reservation in July (stayed in November) for a junior Non-Smoking suite. Given a smoking room first. Had to call me on line travel website (and they called hotel) to get the non-smoking room I requested. Hotel literature says their "courtesy shuttle" will take you many places around town with notice...website says airport only with 24 hours notice but they also don't mention that is from 8 am to 5 pm only which left another bad taste in my mouth, as I called a week before our arrival to try and get the courtesy shuttle..but we had to cab it from airport to hotel. The day before we left, I called to get a courtesy ride to the airport (with 12 hours notice) and the guy was like "it requires 24 hours notice, can you leave 3 hours earlier when we have a run going?" It may be close to downtown and fun stuff, but without a vehicle, it's all taxi which does not bode well for the touring family. Definitely a low-budget hotel. they on line trvel website gives it a 3 star rating, I give it a 1 1/2 at best. Goods: Sonic very close; Bill Miller BBQ close; bed was comfortable. If you are on a tight budget, you can try the Antonian...but if you are used to something better, try to go somewhere

i was well impressed with the hotel on how they handled my situation when i misplaced my cell phone, and i had no idea where i misplaced it. An employee happened to find my cell phone and called to my spouse's cell phone to let me know that the employee found my cell phone. i was well informed on how to retrieve my cell. Thank you for making our vacation worried free.

The hotel was clean and it had a great hot breakfast. The location of the hotel was ideal, close to Sea World, the Natural Bridge Caverns and Downtown San Antonio. The only thing bad about the Hotel was that the very first night that we stayed the hallway to our room and the room itself smelled like mildew. It had been raining during the week and on the day we checked in the hotel room smelled like mildew. The staff were very nice and helpful. The pool is small for a hotel that size. We stayed with our two kids and they really enjoyed the stay. Overall the hotel was good and we would stay again.
Alot of Bang for the buck!

My reservation was bungled when I arrived, but they made it work and put us in an executive suite with kitchenette. We noticed that the shower head massager was broken and they imediatly fixed it.The staff was very helpfull and friendly. If you request the kitchenette you must bring your own cooking things. Since other people in the past have taken items, none of it is equiped. They have a gym with treadmill and bow flex, a nice size pool. and washing machines on the second floor. also have a happy hour mon -fri from 5:30-6:30pm and the breakfast buffet is quite good. There is internet at the front desk so you can check your email. Plenty of parking in the front of the hotel. They are not equipetd with a hotel shuttle and you must drive to everything in the imidate area anyways. which isn't a big surprise anyways. your about a good 45min to Sea World and 15min to the Alamo. The staff is really geared to attension to detail and were cleaning and painting other rooms and we were able to see into other rooms, very, very nice in deed. The pictures that you find on the hotel do not do it justice.
