Why does it smell so bad in this hotel??

This hotel was in need of a deep clean and remodel. The rooms smelled like chlorine and funk mixed together. There was something sticky all over the vanity and the table. There were hairs and dirt in the tub, and a nasty brown goo on the ice bucket. The beds felt like bricks and you can tell they only vacuumed in the center of the room. The edging of the blue carpet was gray with dust and dirt. They claim that you need a key card to open the outside doors, but the one we used was broken and the door wouldn't shut. Not very safe.
We were only in the room for a max of 6 hours to sleep, so we just dealt with it. But we would never, ever, ever come back again.
Great Value for your money

This is a nice hotel that is right on the main drag. There?s a lot of shopping and places to eat near by. I would stay here again. The only thing negative was that the hallways were extremely hot and when you first walked into the room it smelled like wet towels. While checking out I heard another guest mentioning to the front desk that their room also smelled this way. I believe it was coming from the shower curtain. After a while smell did go away. Lastly, the free morning breakfast was good.
